Jeffrey M. Anderson, Common Sense Media
Crude humor, pop culture references in animated Jedi spoof.

Anton Bitel, Eye for Film
there are just too many lazy jokes about bodily functions and arbitrary pop-culture references to justify so lavish a reconstruction of the Star Wars world(s) - and by Family Guy's own often high standards, the gags here are pretty sub-par.

Felix Vasquez Jr., Cinema Crazed
So why should we watch "It's a Trap!" if the creator of "Family Guy" didn't even want to do this?

It's a Trap! is not an improvement or worse than its two predecessor's. I get the feeling the writers didn't try as hard on this one but what they did for the Return of the Jedi parody was good enough.

they do a brilliant job at reinterpreting my favorite star wars film with this and they pulled it off flawlessly

In this spectacular and offensively uproarious final chapter, Luke Skywalker (Chris) and Princess Leia (Lois) must travel to Tatooine to free Han Solo (Peter) by infiltrating the wretched stronghold of Jabba the Hutt (Joe), the galaxy's most loathsome and dreadful gangster. Once reunited, the Rebels team up with a tribe of Ewoks to combat the Imperial forces on the forest moon of Endor. Meanwhile the Emperor (Carter Pewterschmidt) and Darth Vader (Stewie) conspire to turn Luke to the dark side, and young Skywalker is determined to rekindle the spirit of the Jedi within his father. The Galactic Civil War has never been more outrageous, as the Rebel forces gather to attack the seemingly defenseless and incomplete second Death Star in the battle that will determine the fate of the galaxy.

What happened to Family Guy? I've gone through such a weird and up-and-down journey with this show: first I hated it for it's shameless rip-off of The Simpsons, then - for a few seasons - I loved it, and now I've gone back to hating it again (okay, maybe hate is to exaggerate, but that's just how it makes me feel sometimes). It's suffered such a bad decline recently that I've stopped watching the show altogether. I gave it one last chance with this movie, as the first one was great and the second pretty good...but this? I don't know what this was, but it's got to rank as the unfunniest Star Wars spoof ever. A lot of meaningless and dragged out sketches, just filling up the time in what is evidently the work of a lazy and resigned writing staff. It's one thing that he stole stuff from The Simpsons - that, I can overcome - but for sinking this low on the humor scale, Seth McFarlane ought to be ashamed. So why am I still giving it 3 out of 5 stars? Well, even if most of the jokes downright suck, it did have a few that were quite amusing. The amped-up animation is another plus, and John Williams' original music themes are always a joy to listen to. That being said, it's all right on the whole. But it definitely didn't make me wanna go back to watching the show again.

The annoying about this is how the opening title scroll literally explains the fact that the crew was rushed to get this out by Christmas. As a result, it has moments of true hilarity, but without the time to really craft some great jokes all the way through, what you're left with is a very pretty looking episode of Family Guy, that does just an ok job of recapping The Return of the Jedi..

Family Guy milk the Star Wars cow for the final installment. The opening crawl says that they weren't even trying and that Fox forced them into it. Either that was a poor joke, or just really honest. This installment doesn't have the hilarity of previous outings. We are used to the characters in their Star Wars guises now and as Stewie points out, they run out of their own characters. Instead we have characters from The Cleveland Show and American Dad pop up. Jokes carry on for far too long, which is supposed to be funny in itself, but just gets annoying. The whole Seth Green vs. Seth McFarlane thing didn't have to be used so much. Other jokes are just obvious at this point. e.g. Meg being a monster yet again. Some of the best laughs come from this special insulting itself, but blaming Return of the Jedi for being the way it was. TOO much of the same, but still enjoyable.

Well its a valiant try but this final episode isn't actually that good, there are some nice funny moments that made me giggle, afew visual gags that work nicely but some really don't. There is allot of time wasting with visual gags throughout which now, after years of FG, are just annoying and lame yet the inclusion of 'American Dad' characters was alittle cool. For me the funnier joke was the piss taking of Seth Green by 'Stewie/Vader', making fun of his rather poor film and TV career with the actual Green obviously voicing 'Luke' hehe its good they can laugh at themselves.
I did like the use of nasty violence with the action haha seeing the baddies getting chopped in half by a lightsaber, blood spurting, loss of limbs etc..something that 'ROTJ' and Star Wars might of benefitted from in certain scenes hehe
As with the previous two outtings it looks delicious with the rotoscope looking animation, lovely blend of cgi and hand drawing, plus the sound effects are all as they should be with some extras that actually sound pretty good. All in all this last final special is nice but not great, wether they should do the prequels I don't know, this did tend to feel like animated 'Spaceballs' but without the class of Brooks, big 'hmmmm' for me

The third and hopefully last-let's face it: we don't need anyone to make fun of the unintentionally humorous prequels-spoof of the Star Wars trilogy brought to us by Family Guy is more of what we already expect: crude humor, innuendo, fake blood and a sub-60 minute trip through the 120 minute plus movie. If its hard to maintain the humor for the entire run time, it's also hard to stay interested, too, especially when the viewer is left to fill in so many of the story holes It's a Trap doesn't cover. One of the recurring jokes focuses on comparing Return of the Jedi to Empire Strikes Back...which is a silly comparison on every level. Then there's another gag at the end about how much Seth Green sucks (he voices son Chris)...and let's not forget the gag early on which runs too long focusing on a look between the Rebels on Jabba's sail barge. It's a Trap is serviceable, funny even, though it zips along too quickly and doesn't really mean anything in the long run.

Like the original saga this is the worst of the trilogy of Family Guy rip-offs. The whole set-up seems a bit too old hat now and a lot of the jokes aren't up to the previous films standards. There's still some funny stuff here but a lot of it seems a bit tired, as if… More
Like the original saga this is the worst of the trilogy of Family Guy rip-offs. The whole set-up seems a bit too old hat now and a lot of the jokes aren't up to the previous films standards. There's still some funny stuff here but a lot of it seems a bit tired, as if they'd run out of ideas. They joke during the opening scroll that they didn't want to do this one and were forced to by Fox. After watching this perhaps it shouldn't be seen as much of a joke after all. A pity it ends like this but I still love Family Guy.
