  In this sequel to "Fantastic Four", the super hero foursome have to deal with a new foe. Just as Reed(Ioan Gruffudd) and Sue(Jessica Alba) are about to get married, the world comes under attack by the Silver Surfer. The Surfer has been sent to earth to prepare it for it's doom by Galactus, a giant world eating cloud. Can the Fantastic Four save the Earth? Well, of course they can, their super heroes! As light as the first one was, this is even more lighthearted. The effects are great, the action is good, and the story is on par with what you would want from a Fantastic Four movie. However, Galactus is a huge, huge letdown. In the comics he is bad ass, here, he is a freaking cloud. Could have done so much more with that and made this a really special flick. Instead, it's a decent, at best, sequel, that really doesn't warrant anymore than one viewing. The Silver Surfer is the best part of the movie. His effects are amazing, although Laurence Fishborne's voice doesn't quite match him(IMO). I've heard they are going to reboot the series and completely redo it. Not the worst idea in the world, but I would have rather they continue with this incarnation of the Four. May have ultimately become an irrelevant comic book adaption movie, but it's still entertaining and a good watch.

  Although I am a die hard Marvel fan, I have never had much room in my heart for the Fantastic Four and this movie did nothing to change my mind. Contrived and theatrical, the characters were loathesome and irritating, as well as the story line being bland and predictable. One of the worst superhero sequels, but what do you expect from a franchise as hollow as the Fantastic Four. Come on man even their name is stupid.

The plot seemed a lot deeper and betterm and although it was not perfect it still had a majotr improvement. the cast was still bad, and I did not like them. The action had a major improvement too, andI loved the action in the first film. This movie was better than the first, and I understand all the negative reviews but I still like it.

  This PG-rated sequel (a rating we rarely see held by modern superhero films) is not fantastic in any way, shape, or form, and neither is the Silver Surfer himself. It's also kind of hard to call this a superhero film when it lacks action, replaces it with weak quips, and bores the audience with two of the lead "heroes" getting married and having their personal lovey-dovey-ness onscreen. Granted, there are some cool effects and action sequences (remember the PG rating, so that's really not saying much, considering how much stricter the MPAA is now as compared to in 1978 when SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE was original released), but this one just doesn't work.

  This was FF's chance to redeem itself from the original but ultimately falls short with a juvenile conclusion that really leaves you feeling dumb for watching it. The SS/Galactus premise is an age old tale that begs to be modernized, but in the end we're left with a cheesy homage to the super-skrull that only a child would come up with. Combining the powers of the FF into one person? Really? God that's lame. How did no one working on this project realize that? The emotional-romance between the two to be wed was incredibly strained to a point where you're often convinced these two clearly weren't meant to be together, almost makes me wish for emo-grimm again because at least that was convincing drama. Also, why do they constantly make Doom out to be an idiot? What's the point of having the surfer's powers if you're just going to parade around and blow things up? What's the point of them if Galactus destroys all life on Earth? Agh it's frustrating. A slight improvement on the first in entertainment value, but that's really not saying much.

  This was better than that insulting first movie. This was had a plot and was exciting. However, this is an excuse to NOT make a Silver Surfer movie. They had to put him in an FF film. However, the Silver Surfer was the best thing about the film. He was really cool and well performed. However the film still suffers from the thing that made the first suck. Its childish. Silly effects, silly dialogue, and weak acting. This movie spoke to me. If I were CEO of Marvel Comics, I would not sell the character rights to Fox. Apart from the cool X-Men movies, look what other disasters they did. These disasters are known as "Daredevil", "Elektra", and the first "Fantastic Four" film. This could've been a fun moviegoing experience if it weren't for the annoying 5-year old kid behind me mimicking the film's dialogue. I'm giving this film a 50% because it was better and a bit funner than the first.

  This is an exponentially better movie than its original counterpart. It really benefits from the origin story being done with, this has The Fantastic 4 as a well established team with great chemistry. The lines are better written and the goofy moments are so overblown that they actually are extremely funny. Chris Evans and Julian McMahon continue to be the best part, but in actuality the rest of the cast upped their game in this. The special effects and plot were a lot better in this, it's great seeing the Silver Surfer in action w/ Morpheus voice. It in no way tries to be the end all say all of superhero movies, which is why it's so much fun. It's about as close as you're going to get to an accurate yet believable depiction of the comic books. It even included the freakin Fantasticar.

  After the really decent first part, expectations were high for the huge meeting of the F4, Galactus and his herald. The previews did a great job hiding Doc Doom's return, but sadly, the film wastes the villain as "just another bad guy", which does no justice to the comic character. The creators also do not dare to give Galactus his comic look, merely hint at it, but at least their Silver Surfer is pretty decent. The film doesn't take itself very serious, sometimes maybe not serious enough. Of course, it is too fast and short to get boring and the action, especially the London sequence, is pretty good. Only the showdown falls short and does not make a lot of sense. Considering the great amount of very convincing comic adaptations of the last years, and the potential of this constellation, the film is a bit of a disappointment. Even if an entertaining one.

  There's little reason to recommend Rise of the Silver Surfer. It's missing even the goofy charm that made first Fantastic Four a decent popcorn movie. The problems begin with the casting. Its much more apparent here than in the first movie, that these actors really don't fit their characters. As much as I love Jessica Alba, she's no Sue Storm. She tries hard, but she never comes close to being anything more than a pretty distraction. Dr. Doom is smarmy, but not sinister or intimidating. Johnny seems bland, The Thing is defined by his girlfriend more than anything else, and Reed is just goofy. Each character is basically an even more watered down version of themselves from the first movie. The Silver Surfer just flies around looking cool and making dire predictions. And let's not even begin talking about Galactus. Everyone is uniformly underwhelming. As for the story, it's more boring than anything involving FREAKIN' GALACTUS should ever be. It's short, which makes it bearable...until the ridiculous ending. Horrible. It sounds like I hated the movie, but I was just genuinely disappointed that Rise of the Silver Surfer didn't improve on the first movie, at all. Watch this if you simply must see every superhero movie (or if you must see every Jessica Alba movie), but be prepared to find little satisfaction.

  The four gosh darn it American as apple pie heroes return to do battle with the Silver Surfer, who comes to Earth to prepare it for consumption by Galactus. The first Fantastic Four movie was inoffensive enough, but this rehash is just plain lazy. The way it pointlessly reintroduces Dr. Doom is contrived and lame, Jessica Alba seems to be duking it out with The Thing in the "who's the most orange" competition and the ham fisted attempts at comedy (the Mr. Fantastic dance routine is just EXCRUCIATING) combined with the freaky family soap opera feeling made it look like a superhero version of The Munsters. The surfer himself was quite cool, but the action sequences are too short lived and anticlimactic and the dialogue quite atrocious. As a whole it was just a watered down version of something that was pretty piss weak in the first place and looks faintly ridiculous in the post Batman Begins era. As a whole it's just a live action kid's cartoon with some fancy effects and little else to commend it.
