Fans of Hong Kong pinup queen Joey Wang are likely to appreciate this ghost-themed seriocomic fantasy about a comic book artist named Shing (Tony Leung) who finds himself haunted by the ghostly Ching-ching (Wang). Shing eventually falls in love with the beautiful ghost, but there is another spirit around who wants to ruin their romance. It's a ghostly prostitute (Deanie Yip) who wants to strike a deal with the king of Hell so that he will allow her dead son to be reincarnated. In return, she promises to bring back his errant daughter-in-law, who is none other than Ching-ching. There is some interesting animation at the end, when Shing must inhabit his own artwork to save the ghost whom he loves, and a cute send-up of A Chinese Ghost Story, the second sequel to which would reunite Wang and Leung the same year. Paul Chun and Tien Feng co-star. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi
