Critic Reviews

  • Alissa Simon, Variety

If as much care were taken with script as with visuals, pic would have more impact.

  • Anne Wollenberg, Filmstar Magazine

    Eerie and absorbing.

  • Andrew L. Urban, Urban Cinefile

This is one tough and confronting film, its beauty only adding to the shock value

  • Rich Cline, Shadows on the Wall

The freaky finale kind of undermines any sympathy we might have built up, but it adds a level of classical storytelling that makes the film feel utterly timeless.

Based on the book 'True North', this eerie movie revolves around three characters. Disturbing in parts, it tries to be an effective psychological thriller, but it failed at every level as far as I'm concerned. Except for the beautiful scenery. Yet, give it a go; it… More

Now theres a thing. A character study of two women surviving in the harsh icy north somewhere with reindeers and igloos and the like. Very atmostpheric, kind of an arctic Cold Mountain (ish), then Sean Bean turns up, characters develop and it all turns gothic in the last fifteen… More

Ugh. I can't stand to even think about this film. It's weird, cold, in more ways than one, and unimaginably horrible in one crucial place. Sean Bean knocks it out the park as usual though.
