At best, could have been a personal, compact tale of love and loss, but the characters are flat and you can feel the plot's rails beneath all the automated drama. Morgan Freeman plays Morgan Freeman. Oh, and it uses "Falling Slowly" in a bad way.

This film will make even the biggest cynic melt one of the icycles on the heart. It's a beautiful story that revolves a group of people who are all witnessed falling in love by one man, played by Morgan Freeman. My favourite pairing has to be David and Diana. David plays a married man who casually sees Diana for sex and wine as she puts it, but when he finds out that she is engaged to be married to a man she doesn't love, his true feelings come out. The rest i'll leave as a mystery in the hope that someone will read this and decide to watch it. A beautiful romance with what I was suprised to find, had a lot of nakedness in it.....;)

Expected more and got less. At times this seemed like a soft-core porn film as opposed to a love story. Tapestry stories are hard to pull off. It probably is a better book.

Completely satisfying in an unexpected way. I was completely unprepared for the experience I would have when I watched this movie. Beautiful. Soul delving. Robert Benton is one of the masters of relationship pieces, and what he creates here shows all of the extremes of love from its many different infancies and inadequacies to its poetry, comedy, heartache, and pain; its healing and flourishing.
It's all here in a story that examines three relationships and the lives they affect. I know its cliched, but devour this film whole.

    Feast of Love 4 stars
Contrived series of failed relationships that Greg Kinnear keeps "falling for" narrarated by Morgan Freeman who, after loosing his own son due to a drug overdose, asks himself if love is merely a biological reaction in order to procreate or if it is really "what makes the world go 'round." He also plays a self-appointed pshychologist for most of the other characters.

The redeeming qualities of this movie are a young and in love couple played by Toby Hemingway and Alexa Davalos. Their "true" love however, is overshadowed by those of Kinnear and Radha Mitchell, who jump from bed to bed as the two most confused people in this film.

The nudity is gratuitous and the plot simple but not totally predictable.

So, why do I give it 4 stars? I am a hopeless romantic and this film pulled my emotional heart strings! Sometimes films don't have to be perfect in order to make a statement that although most people in love take for granted, not everyone has experienced. Despite all our "baggage" we are still capable of love.

Just an alright movie. If it wasn't for Morgan Freeman I think it would have got a worse review. My favorite quote was "The end is always right there in the beginning"

A beautiful film that I enjoyed thoroughly. As soon as I saw that Morgan Freeman was in it I knew that it was going to be a great watch. It says it all in the title really, a story about love. We follow a group of couples who all experience the different varities of this emotion: love at first sight, love based on physical attraction, non-beliver in love, the love between friends, loosing love and trying to find your faith in love again. To me it wasn't just another soppy film about love; it really did capture the emotions without the need to show it in an over the top soap-opera style but in a way that was real and simple. Freeman's character is the connection that links all these couple's together and most of the time witnesses the exact moment one falls in of out of love. I thought it was beautifully told and was enjoyable to watch as we kept moving from one couple to the next however sometimes I wish they were all given the same amount of screen time. I was sad to see that it didn't get as much praise as it deserves. The cast performances were amazing. Morgan Freeman, that guy just has the best voice for narration. I was very impressed with Alexa Davalos and Gregg Kinnear. I really do recommend this film.

This is an OK movie, certain plot points were developed well while others seemed rushed or forced. Lags in places. The acting though is great, the cast is superb,

A nice drama with some emotionell moments. The movie has a several stories about diffrent kind of love and relationships and in the centre like a nave there is the great Morgan Freeman and he tie all the strings together. He is also the storyteller and his voice is superb. Great acting and some really wonderful scenes makes this one more the "worth seeing", enjoy.

"Sometimes you don't know you've crossed a line until you're already on the other side."

Loved it! Great cast, great performances. There is a lot going on in this film but it has a good pace and is not overwhelming. I laughed and cried. I could go on and on about the cast. I seemingly liked this a lot more than everyone else for some reason. 6.7/10 on IMBD. 3/5 here on Flixster. The critics did not like it either giving it only Average Rating: 5.4/10 on RT. It only made $3.4 million at the box office which is pretty weak. I am impressed by Robert Benton!! Dude is still making movies. I saw his Kramer vs. Kramer in the theater when I was 9 years old. I think this is much better. If I can make a movie this good when I am 75 years old I will be pretty happy. Decent soundtrack. Beautifully filmed.

It was an alright movie. I actually cried when oscar died and thought they could have made the ending a bit more "happily ever after". But overall it was pretty good.

Esther Stevenson: "How was your walk? Did I miss anything?
Harry Stevenson: A cool breeze, a softball game, and two women falling in love.
    Esther Stevenson: With each other?
Harry Stevenson: And one of them's married. The funny thing is, no one noticed. Not even the husband, two feet away.
Esther Stevenson: I'm sorry I missed that.
Harry Stevenson: I imagine he will be too."

Feast of Love revolves around Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman, Million Dollar Baby), a damaged university professor spending a good deal of his leave of absence hanging out at a small Portland coffee shop run by his good friend Bradley (Greg Kinnear, As Good As It Gets). Harry's remarkably perceptive: he can see Bradley's marriage falling apart long before it happens, just as he can see Cupid's arrow strike Bradley's sole employee Oscar (Toby Hemingway, The Covenant) in the ass the moment Chloe (Alexa Davalos, The Chronicles of Riddick) walks in the door. But all of his insight into others might just be to void looking at himself. Added to the mix of lovestruck adventurers are Bradley's sexually awakened wife Kathryn (Selma Blair, Hellboy), a wealthy real estate agent (Radha Mitchell, Silent Hill) and her married lover (Billy Burke, Ladder 49), and Oscar's alcoholic?and psychotic?father (Fred Ward, Tremors). Much coupling, uncoupling, and recoupling ensues. Feast of Love pulls off an impressive balancing act of stretching realism for the sake of telling a good tale while never losing its sense of grounding. Feast of Love strives for, and more often than not achieves, emotional truth, and with that goal in mind such things as realistic timeframes give way to unlikely coincidences, yet we never stop buying into the story. Kinnear's Bradley is the heart of the film. The character could have easily been turned into a joke but with Kinnear in the role Bradley, despite all the tribulations heaped upon him, he becomes the film's tower of strength and its emotional compass. Kinnear's glance conveys a world of love lost and love gained. The film does start off with the well-worn cliché about the gods inventing love for their amusement, but at least the people here learn that life, for all its heartbreak and pain, is short and love can fulfill their very human needs.

Not a gourmet meal, but tastefully prepared and pleasant enough to satisfy an appetite for a heartfelt drama. "The unexpected is always upon us.........and so we begin again." Recommended.

The film tries to say something, but I seemed to lose it as I never conected with the stories that felt to be not quite realistic. The acting , music and photography are good though.

A movie right down my alley. Three stories about love in different stages in life. The young couple, the middle age crisis heartbroken guy and the sweet old couple.
Gives some new perspectives on love, sorrow and life in general. Morgan freeman is perfect as the old wise guy with all the answers,
