A superb! The smartest , street , psychological , thrilling and unpredictable movie ever .

    Review

One pack of insanity and hours which took me into its world , thinking that i was the member of the fight club (kidding...xD) and joined their craziness of hitting each other for personal pleasure .

"Fight Club" is a brilliant movie who had great psycho things plus something cool in ever scene i've ever watched.

"Fight Club" showed us one of the most creative idea could come from insane people .

    Story :
two thumbs up ! Every minutes of it's insanity will make you go into the ''club'' , more and more until the end of the ''project"

    Directing :
Something unique and f*ckin cool . Storytelling , several point of view , slang words and every thing else.

    Cinematography & setting :
Enjoyable yet cool . With dark downtown setting and ''sephia'' lightning , it made the "club" into your mind more and more.

    Score :
    Terrific not yet collectable .

Casting :Edward Norton looked "behind" Brad Pitt but he's a "genius" actor here .

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden . He created a historical movie character from this role alive and drop dead unique , sarcasm and insane .
    Flixster - Share Movies
Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singler , she kicked out a blazing performance here ,with a super extravagant opening , that smoked scene is a total A thing .

Script :"You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. We are all singin' and all dancin' crap of the world"- Tyler Durden

    Anything to say?

    Overall :
WATCH IT ! Seeing one of the most crazy and cool character in movie history called Tyler Durden is a something you won't regret .

Different than what I expected, but I totally enjoyed it. I can definitely understand why some people think it's overrated, though. It doesn't really have too much of a point or a message--besides demonstrating mental illness in the form of multiple personality disorder and its obvious complaint that consumerism makes slaves of us, causing deep anger to form within us. But it's not so much communist as it is anarchist. Tyler Durden's (Brad Pitt) theory is that the world is infinitely better off if people go back to their primitive, simplistic natures. That is, to live basically like Tarzan; unruled, wild, carefree, and "enlightened".

However, other than that, it is (as a friend of mine puts it) "a movie where people beat each other up all the time for no reason." In conclusion, it is a strange movie that people either appreciate its somwhat twisted humor, presenatation, and philosophy or find it pointless, violent, and unlikeable.

    Fight Club (1999)
    Directed by David Fincher
Starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carter, Meat Loaf, Jared Leto

«Tyler Durden: I want you to do me a favour.
    Narrator: Yeah, sure...
Tyler Durden: I want you to hit me as hard as you can.
Narrator: What, you just want me to hit you?
Tyler Durden: C'mon, do me this one favour.
    Narrator: Why?
Tyler Durden: Why? I don't know why; I don't know. Never been in a fight. You?
Narrator: No, but that's a good thing.
Tyler Durden: No, it is not. How much can you know about yourself, you've never been in a fight? I don't want to die without any scars. So come on; hit me before I lose my nerve.
    Narrator: This is crazy.
Tyler Durden: So go crazy. Let 'er rip.
Narrator: I don't know about this.
Tyler Durden: I don't either. Who gives a shit? No one's watching. What do you care?
Narrator: Whoa, wait, this is crazy. You want me to hit you?
    Tyler Durden: That's right.
Narrator: What, like in the face?
    Tyler Durden: Surprise me.
Narrator: This is so fucking stupid...
[Narrator swings, connects against Tyler's head]
Tyler Durden: Motherfucker! You hit me in the ear!
    Narrator: Well, Jesus, I'm sorry.
Tyler Durden: Ow, Christ... why the ear, man?
Narrator: Guess I fucked it up...
Tyler Durden: No, that was perfect!»

You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. What happens first is you can't sleep. What happens then is there's a gun in your mouth. And what happens next is you meet Tyler Durden. Let me tell you about Tyler. He had a plan. In Tyler we trusted. Tyler says the things you own, end up owning you. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Fight Club represents that kind of freedom. First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Tyler says self-improvement is masturbation. Tyler says self-destruction might be the answer.

First rule of the fight club is: you do not talk about the fight club but in the next half an hour I am afraid I have to break this rule as I will mention the good and the bad things about fight club. If you are here to read the bad things, then I am afraid you will not get any from me. Fight club is a true masterpiece, a drama/crime movie involving everything you need in a perfect movie: fighting, sex, cigarettes, love, action, more fighting, crime, more sex and of course a storyline that will touch you and make you feel stunned right to the end. A superb story, accomplished with some astonishing acting, and of course the superb special effects, all here in this movie. I will also discuss what it took to get such a great film?

The film opened at the cinemas on October 15, 1999 and perhaps made the end of the 20th Century worthwhile. An American feature film adaptation of the 1996 novel Fight Club, by Chuck Palahniuk, adapted by Jim Uhls, and directed by David Fincher. This is a perfect story Chuck wrote, and David Fincher did a brilliant job in producing this film. The action never stops, and even in the end you are left imagining what might happen next. Twists and turns are in the film throughout, and it looks better every time you watch it.

This film has one of the best acting performances I have seen in my whole life in Edward Norton's performance, and this is only one year after his previous stunning Oscar nominated performance as Derek Vinyard from American History X. He followed this up by giving an absolutely sensational performance in Fight Club. Every time I watch another of his films and hear his voice, it brings me back to the time I watched Fight Club; the Story teller's narrative was very emotional and clearly understandable. His character is a guy who suffers from insomnia. He is a crazy, obsessed guy, but like most other guys in the world he has a normal job, a normal house, and a normal life. It all changes after he meets Tyler Durden, a mysterious guy that offers him to stay at his house, after a horrible accident which caused the narrators flat to be destroyed. Ed Norton is no longer Ed Norton; he is the narrator of this story and the main protagonist. His acting deserves more than praise but unfortunately he was never nominated for any awards whatsoever which is very disappointing.

Brad Pitt plays Tyler Durden, and he does his role unbelievably well. No nonsense from Brad and a good look, extremely athletic body, and his mannerisms are very humorous in this film, and he delivers perhaps one of the best performances in his entire career. Also he handled most of his dialogues really well and he sounded very encouraging towards the narrator; a sort of stuff I was really surprised to see from Brad Pitt.

Helena Bonham Carter plays the role of Marla Singer, a deeply depressed-looking person who is flippant about taking her life seriously, and absolutely careless about everything. At first she is kind of annoying; at the start of the movie she always appears where narrator seems to be, but later you understand that she is a major character in this film so she needed to be there all the time. It is a perfect performance from Helena which also surprised me, considering I had never heard of her until I saw this movie (all of her fans, please excuse me for my lack of knowledge about her career). Lastly I want to mention two other minor actors: Meat loaf & Jared Leto. They both gave good, strong performances and never looked like they were struggling.

There were not many Special effects, as it isn't some sort of over the top action movie, however this film does have some serious fighting scenes which you will no doubt enjoy. This film had some great destructive special effects, and without revealing any more details, I can tell you that it looks cleverly done.

One of the other things I liked about this film is the original idea, the way it is told, and the way we do not know the truth until the very end. This film is also filled with hidden messages which are very hard to notice, or understand. It is crazy and I love it for that. I cannot understand why this film wasn't nominated for any Academy Award, but for Best Sound Editing and the Golden Reel Award, it lost both, which is really disappointing in my opinion, as this film is really original and entirely unique.

So, to summarize, Fight Club achieved everything it could have achieved and rose above my expectations and became my favourite film of all time. I can assure you that if you find this film in a DVD shop or elsewhere, please buy it! By doing so you will be involved in what it feels like to be deeply depressed and to have no other choice but to fight your way through it until finally you will meet your destiny. This film is without any doubt a masterpiece.

«Tyler Durden: Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler.»

First, just few days before I watched this movie, I've watched a horrible movie (just check my Meet Dave's review) and I got my mood back in town. This movie was amazing! Two hours of dazzling moments. One of greatest movie in my life and it was so mind-blowing! Edward Norton is a top class actor, and so is Brad Pitt. Both of them showed a quality acting in this movie. Both of them was know what were they doing and the audience didn't waste their time watching them both. Both of them was the central character and they were the center of the attention (which mean the rest of the cast except Helena was fringes cast or character). Helena played well here, and as we know that she's a quality actress. And I felt that Edward Norton narrated the movie well. This movie has a twist (that made this movie a masterpiece). Even tough I've known the twist already (which I couldn't tell here), still this movie was enjoyable and maybe if I didn't knew the twist, I would feel that this movie was indescribable. As the story goes by, you would understand all points of the movie after around 3/4 of the movie and you'll find yourself watching a brilliant artwork. Almost forget, quotes from this movie were good, well most of them (yes, but not Tyler's quote that said something bad about God, I hate the fact that he said that). And other thing, did you know that Ed's character's name didn't actually revealed? Even tough later he was assumed as .... sorry couldn't tell you (Imdb.com wrote him as a Narrator.) For (some) of my last words, if anyone (who read this review) had similar problem like Edward Norton's character's problem, you shouldn't try something like fight club anywhere! And maybe if peoples often tell you that you often talk to yourself, you have to be careful, you wouldn't like an imaginary friends like someone. (Hey careful, It's the movie's clue!)

Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. And also make sure your seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position. Get yourself ready to experience most overwhelming 139 minutes of your life. Apparently, I never saw any movie this astonishing, this captivating, and this close to perfection since Sin City. Sitting in front of 2.5-inch iPod display during flight, I discovered this kind of tour de force. At first I watched this movie, when I was only 98% in understanding the whole movie, I already blessed it with 4 and a half stars. But a few hours afterwards at the exactly same day, I rewatch this and fulfilled the other 2%, I decided to give it whole 5 stars. Believe me, if you've watched it once, you have to go for second to completely grasp how oustanding this movie truly is.

The narrator suffers from a lack of sleep. He tries different ways to cure this, but he does not succeed. He does get some sleep, but his conditions rebounds back into it's original state when he meets a lovely young woman, whose name is Marla. He finds out that she and he both have a lot in common and they spend a lot of time together. While touring, he meets an enigmatic young man named Tyler and after a short conversation both become fast friends. Both like to relieve their inner tensions by hitting each other. Soon word gets around about their fights, and lots of young people also get interested. Then a club is formed, which the narrator and Tyler call 'Fight Club'. Both start spending a lot of time and both also make lots of money. Then one day the narrator finds out that Tyler has been using him.
Authentically adapted from Chuck Palahniuk's cult novel, Fincher's film contains mischief, spiritual suicide, a nameless insomnia, soap, moreover the testicular cancer which some of us interpretate it as a masculine film. Fincher translates Palahniuk's muscular prose into impressive images as fresh and invigorating as they are profoundly disturbing. Flincher also gives Pitt and Norton the space to deliver what may be the best performances of their careers. They are GREAT actors. Both Pitt and Norton gave their very best yet the roles are undoubtedly inimitable. Helena Bonham Carter, Jared Leto and Meat Loaf are equally striking in supporting roles.

    My Review

Just a moment before I watched this movie, I still considered this as a movie that a woman could hardly watch. But, I was completely WRONG. I enjoyed every damn good dialog it delivered, the twist ending was extremely BRILLIANT. I can't imagine Norton's career after Fight Club, I thought his performance here was simply unbeatable with whatever characters in movies he would play in couple years later. I thought here, Pitt as well were at the top of his career. The plot was tremendously captivating, with the two actors gave their best, maybe for the rest of their careers. Bonham Carter surprisingly balanced the whole movie charisma, her performance was completely tenacious. I don't give a damn care about the bloody scenes or violences shown by the movie, considering what this movie about and what a masterpiece it was and how high the CHARISMA bulit for a single movie. To separate good movies with a-not-so-good movies, well, I thought it could be depends on what the movies left for the viewers. A simple 'OKAY' movie would give an entertainment that will last after another movie with the same genre hit the cinema and suddenly our memory will just mixed up with one and another. But I thought Fight Club would stand in the other option, a movie that was simply irreplacable with whatever Hollywood will come up with. THANK'S TO FINCHER'S GREAT JOB.

I like to think of this movie as nothing but pure dumb subversive fun. It's really not the social commentary people make it out to be, it's message is very hypocritical, I mean how can it be against consumerism when people are paying to see the movie and buying the dvd. So yeah. I love how people say this movie changed their life. How so? Are you getting rid of all your material possessions and causing anarchy on a daily basis? You know what don't say anything because I already know the answer. It's just a little too philosophical for it's own good. The movie is worth it for at least one go around if only for Jared Leto getting his face smashed in. Well that was my two cents. Oh, and Brad Pitt is ridiculously underrated.

<< "Self improvement is masturbation. Now self destruction..." >>

The story follows the narrator of the film, an office employee, a heavy consumer to the world, who suffers from insomnia and does what he can to try and cure it, but when someone gets in his way, it vents up. He soon meets Tyler Durden on a business flight and together, aside from there differences, they put together 'Fight Club', an underground male fight group to help relieve male aggression.

I've seen this film countless times and I think it takes my number 1 spot for that reason. I find it difficult to pick a favorite film and even then I see no film as perfect, but the fact that I can keep re-watching this film and finding something new and refreshing every single time keeps it as one of my 'favorites'.

This film showed me one of my favorite directors...David Fincher. I would also count Se7en as another film that really brings forward the genius (it was released before this), but I saw this first. Key words is really all I can give you for his work here...brilliant, stylish, taut and a very original directional style, even when a lot of it comes from the CGI, his deft control and visual mind are present in every computerized moment and whats delivered is more than just CGI.

Now I have never read Chuck Palahniuk's novel that this film is based on (but I definitely plan to read it), so I can't judge how faithful this film is, even though people say it is. Whether or not the book is more complex and layered or whether it's the other way around...either way, Jim Ehl's screenplay is something astonishing. Many still believe that even though its a film for the mind, the visceral content make it that much more...wrong. The screenplay is complex and chock full of layers. Its thoughtful, controversial and truly outstanding. Its not only a film full of crafty thrills, brilliant characters, superb and thoughtful dialogue and a twist to shock many (your not smart to 'figure' it out before the end, you can only take guesses), buts its so much more...a corporate advert to show the deterioration of man, a consumers guide to how life is, every character action, every frame tells another story about everything we live for, all while keeping you extremely engrossed elsewhere...reading the basic synopsis for this film tells you nothing, it is not just a film about fighting, its about what man is really capable of, because we are blinded by how unreal the world has become, where we aim for unnecessary goals, where we want a certain lifestyle that we don't need, like Tyler Durden says in the film, 'Things you own, end up owning you'...trust me, I am only telling you one small factor of the film here.

The acting is brilliant, although Brad Pitt delivered a strong and weird performance in 12 Monkeys before this, this film showed the world he really is an actor and not just a celebrity. His performance that is darkly hilarious and strangely captivating...and Edward Norton gives the 2nd strongest performance of his career (after American History X), enough said.

Fight Club was a critical success, which is rare thing for a film that is now seen as a 'cult classic', seeing as it flopped at the box office...it got the best of both worlds without the worlds money. I could continue to rant on and on about how much I love this film and how the film stands alone as something great, but I'll stop soon. The film is a masterpiece in my eyes, a film of kinetic beauty and a film to tell so much to so many...many will see this film as a degeneration of the world, but its actually exposing the world for what it is...a nice twist.

As plain and simple as i can express it: this is the most exillerating film i have ever witnessed. from the second it started i was entertained. it had a nice opening scene and after that, i was anticipating ever other scene to come along. Never have i seen a film with such detail. it was nearly-perfect, the music was superb and the visuals were vicious eye-candy. this also carried the always mind-blowing, creative art of foreshadow. however, to tend to miss all the noticeable clues during your first viewing. this is again, a movie you will have to watch a few times. One of the biggest themes of this film was how dark and horrifying the atmosphere is, yet it did spring in some raunchy and risque humor. but what impressed me the most was the character's lifestyle. he needed a serious change in his life if he were to carry on in the world. and he did change his life...but later, he realizes just how much change he had. it may be confusing to interpret what i have written, but it will all make sense when you see the film.

...AND: In my opinion, a movie is only as good as its ending. Most of you may disagree, but to me every film needs a surprising way of climaxing. Cliff-hangers DO NOT fall under this category. Sorry, they just don't. Anyway, the reason as to why FIGHT CLUB is my all-time favorite movie, is because it has EVERYTHING I look for in a movie. "Are you watching closely?". Here's what it has that makes it such an irresistible experience - Narration, Dark Humor, Foreshadow, Cliches, Morals, Remarkable Special Effects, An Original Score, Twists & Turns, Split-personality, Feuds, Relationships, Violence, Risque Occurences, Sensational Directing & Aacting [...and lastly...] The Most Instense & Surprising Ending Ever Shown On Screen!

    FIGHT CLUB = PERFECTION
