Should only watch if you have played the game or you might be a little lost. Has some amazing eye candy, if you know what I mean.

"Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" (2005)

To those who loved this world... and knew friendly company therein: This Reunion is for you.

Most movie-goers were quite impressed with the "Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within" (2001) with it's impressive computer generated 3-D animation imagery. You could see almost every individual hair on character's heads. Although named after the computer game, the movie really didn't have much to do with what goes on in the game's story.

Many of the game developers wanted to correct this with the production of this movie, and also to thank it's many fans and they came out with "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children". This movie would utilize all of the great CG work that "Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within" possessed. This movie is also a reunion that has all of the main characters that players of the game will recognize. It's filled with inside jokes that many of the gamers can appreciate.

The problem with this movie is that non-Final Fantasy players may not get the intricacies of the story. I've never played Final Fantasy, so I'm not aware of the history and all of the characters, but I was able to follow along somewhat with the story. The wonderful CG imagery, the cool motorcycles and choreographed fight sequences are fantastic.

This movie is worth renting and checking out, and if you're a big Final Fantasy fan, you'll probably love it. Then again, there is no pleasing everyone and maybe some ardent fans may not like it as much.

I must admit that I enjoyed Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and even own it, but Advent Children was inevitably going to be better. I also must admit that I did not understand much of the plot of Advent Children, but The Spirits Within was not much clearer. I am not really a fan of things Japanese, and have nothing to compare this to, but compared to American action films the fighting was almost breathtaking. Also amazing was the style of the whole movie and the characters. The whole thing was art. I usually enjoy a movie that is exciting, and although Advent Children did not lack excitement, what I will remember most is how beautiful everything was.

This film gets a little more boring each time I see it. In addition to that, it just messes with the way the characters are established and how their conflicts are resolved in the games. After all, Cloud's pretty self-sufficient at the outset of Final Fantasy VII, and even more-so by the end of the game, but here he's kind of fallen three or four steps behind the events of VII. Meh.

The CGI in this is mind-blowing, plus it features the return of RPG fans's most loved (?) villain, Sephiroth

One of the most beautiful looking movies that I have ever seen. It gets major points for that, on top of that though its also the long awaited sequel to the Final Fantasy VII game. Its a shame that they made it as a movie instead of a game but hell this is a great movie so I guess I shouldn't complain right?

If your a Final Fantasy fan it's must see. It take the FFVII story a little farther, giving some more depth to the characters. But it watches just like a video game, you spend the whole time wondering when you get control again.

Fanboy junk food of the highest order, the fans ate it joyfully, anyone else has no bussiness seeing this. It adds nothing to the story of the game, neither to the character arc. Just an excuse to see Sephiroth and Cloud do big jump after big jump to smash their swords over and over. Even if that had been enjoyable the film will be sort of watchable, but Nomura and Nozue manage to make the fights repetitive and tedious as hell.

No matter how well polished is the CGI, how shinny and good looking everything is in a film, if the characters are as interesting as wood plankets, and could be easilly replaced by said things, then this is no film but actually a fetichistic waste of computer graphics. Not-so-dear-as-of-lately-SE: stop wasting time on this crap and just make better games.

I watched this installment a year or so ago and came away pretty impressed wth it. I never really was a fan of FF7 but watching this film really didn't make me feel obligated to play the first game to understand this story.

The film centered around Cloud and his friends who go their seperate ways after the events of the game several years later. They end up binding together to stop a new threat which is believed to be done by no other then Sephiroth himself.

Story wise it was very much there. It had character development and also featured some well written action sequences too. This is coming from Squaresoft so it meant that there was to be some great visuals to it which it did in fact have.

I was blown away by the scenery and the character animations. For a direct to DVD film this was most certainly a well done one indeed. It was sad that Spirits Within didn't make much box office wise because this most certainly would've made an awsome theatrical experience.

If you never seen this then do yourself the favor and go n watch it. It was well made.

One of the best movies ever. But since I'm a subjective Final Fantasy addict, that's at least what I think...

Loving the Final Fantasy game series to death I'm superfan of this movie. So nostalgic, because FF7 was the first game I played. I love the graphics too. Could someone bring me a real life Cloud or Sephiroth? ;)

Not a very good story, but the animation and action is really something. You will not understand it very well if you have not played the Final Fantasy VII game for PS1.
