This film is a fantasy lovers dream come true. Foul beasts, evil wizards, buxom maidens and gratuitous violence abound in this thoroughly entertaining animated feature. The plot and the characters can be a bit hokey and the voice acting is only adequate, but this is easy to overlook considering to overall experience is pretty satisfying. The best way that I could describe this film is that it's like the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, but for adults. It's also very similar to the film Heavy Metal, but the continuous story line is more enjoyable than the series of short vignettes in that film. You're actually able to invest some emotion into the characters and plot instead of being whisked away to a different time and place. So for those fantasy genre lovers out there and for those of you who enjoyed films like Conan the Barbarian and The Beastmaster, I would definitely recommend watching this movie, especially if your in the mood for a entertaining and enjoyable animated adventure.

Beautiful animations, but the movie is in my opinion ruined by the way the women are dressed.
"Oh, I'm running around all alone in the forest in my thong bikini that is 4 sizes to small and exposes half my breasts. Whatever will happen to me?"

The film that show me that the animation is not just for children, don't pass very well the time test, but still have good moments.

I love the old Fantasy genre, this movie I saw in 1986, and was the first Fantasy movie I had ever seen.

Great animation, cool fight scenes in an okay fantasy adventure. Teegra wins at everything in my book. Larn is such a fox; she looked so sexy pole-vaulting over the wolves! Nekron reminded me of Billy Drago.

Simply one of the coolest animated fantasy epics around! This is Ralph Bakshi's second finest movie besides "American Pop", it's got action, hot animated chicks and stylish visual animation.

I adored this since i was a kid, a must see for fantasy lovers and animation fans alike.

What saves this film from the junk heap is the beautiful crutch of Bakshi's work, the rotoscoping, and the fact that Frank Frazetta taught the animators how to draw like him. This is Frazetta...in motion. The violence is spectacular and the art direction and animation are unlike any other sword & sorcery movie of the period.

It was a fun watch, simple to follow. Interesting animation, sorta set in like the stone age. Same director as Wizards Ralph Bakshi.

It's a cool, old style cartoon. Strange, really. Likeable and the story is not too shabby, kind of like He-Man.

I shouldn't really rate this, because I only saw it by mistake. My dad got it for my brother and me when we were young, thinking 'it's a cartoon. It's obviously for kids'. How wrong he was. It's terrifying (to a child); all I remember about it was the big bull with the red eyes, and the scene where all the soldiers commit suicide with their own swords. So. Don't rent it for your 8 year old. But I've always wanted to watch it again as an adult - I think it would appeal to me now!

It doesn't always work, but it gets supreme cred for the visual look alone. Definitely worth checking out if you dug Heavy Metal or any other "bad-ass animated flick"

When the rotoscoping is this tight, you wonder why they even bothered making it an animated film to begin with, and long, overblown sequences make for a boring movie.

Damn good movie. And all those cartoon geeks getting hard off of Jessica Rabbit haven't seen a damn thing if they haven't seen THIS! The way this chick is drawn is just a half a step away from hentai.

A wonderful, if simple, story of good and evil. Frazetta's impossible costuming and beautiful people come to life. Bakshi finally figures out how to use the rotoscope in a way that is not heavy-handed like the embarassment of the Lord of the Rings.

No... Definetly not a good movie. I don't get the story, I don't like the way it is animated, and I don't like the big breasted woman, whatever her name was...

Ralph Bakshi is an excellent creator. I brought this movie without watching it and loved it. Take a rough barbarian, a kidnapped princess and a world of dinosaurs and evil and we're all set. See it if you like fantasy movies.

A childhood favourie full blooded sword and sorcery fantasy mixing balls to the wall action, inventive use of Rotoscope Animation and a stunning sense of realism.Once quoted as resembling Rembrandt in Motion
