Dante Lam continues along his Hong Kong crime thriller ways with the successful Fire of Conscience.
This film comes with enough story, as well as firepower, to validate nearly all of this 1 hour 45 minute production. There is always something happening that is integral to the story and not much, if anything, off on a sidetrack. The only hindrance in momentum is during the dramatic buildups for the 2 lead characters, which are also valuable to the story.

The action and stunt work are of high caliber as can be seen in the Chinese restaurant segment and onward. The firefights are intense and the hits are bloody realistic.

Leon Lai and Richie Ren deliver excellent performances as the 2 leads. The side characters are also written up so they mean something. Michelle Ye, Kai Chi Liu, and Vivian Hsu, among others, stand out.

Fire of Conscience is a complete package for a Hong Kong crime thriller. From this genre, this picture is worth checking out.
