The President's daughter Samantha Mackenzie (Katie Holmes) spent a sheltered existence in the White House with her father; President Mackenzie (Michael Keaton) is usually too busy taking care of the country to look after his daughter accompanied by Secret Service agents & her mother; the first lady - Melanie Mackenzie (Margaret Colin). Samantha meets Lansome (Marc Blucas) to start a new life @ college.
I picked this up at the supermarket one day when I was really bored. I wanted to see if it was an interesting movie. It got my attention which makes me want to watch. I cant wait to see it when I have the time.
good good good film in my mind. sweet rom com, katie holmes is actually nice in this and marc blucas is sweet too. rest of the cast are good too, make it interesting, but in parts it does feel like its dragging on but a nice ending. worth watching

Another sappy romantic comedy that is geared more toward teenage girls than anyone else. Of course, since I was a teenage girl when I watched it, I enjoyed it very much. Marc Blucas is so dreamy!
Typical film from Katie Holmes. Typical character. They all in some way or another seem to be the same. It must get boring for her, either that or she can't get gigs in other films. The latter makes more sense. She isn't that great an actress and only every once in a while does she do a good job. This wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Michael Keaton must be struggling for roles as well if he's going to star in films like this. I wouldn't recommend this it isn't worth it.
A girl getting her first chance at everything when she's a teenager, Nice. Fall in love with a security guard that you cant see after collage and than in the spring you can do what you want like Dance to your song.
There's only one thing you'll be thinking when sitting down to watch this, 'havn't I seen this movie before'. Same old predictable rubbish.thanks alot hollywood
I really liked this movie i umm saw it a few dfays ago on TV and it was really good and quite a shame in the end because she doesnt get to be with the guy she loves she has to walk away and so does he in a way its like forbidden love but i still loved it
First Daughter was a nice enjoyable movie. Shows you what it would be like to have all eyes on you constantly and the pressure the person would be under in an unlightening way with a touch of romance.
watched this for now the second time and like before it just felt like a drag to watch. its a chick flick i dont like i guess. ok Katie Holmes does look hot in it but iv never been a Katie fan but did like her in this. the film its self is a little boreing but ok i guess. ok to watch when its the only film on...

Made me think of Princess Diana when I saw all the paperazzi chasing after Sam. Living a life of luxury does of course mean not being able to live a normal life.
I've not seen Marc Blucas before but will definitely watch out for him. Is pretty gorgeous and at the same time he really can act.
I love this movie, too. I like that James falls in love with her because he can't help it, he just does, even though it is forbidden. Normally I'm not a big fan of forbidden love, but I liked it in this movie. I'm not that happy with the ending in this movie, but I'm content. The filmmakers definately left the door open for a sequel, and I really hope that there will be one.
11-02-07 --Michael Keaton - Way too young to be president. OK, the first daughter wants to go to college and experience a normal college career. Not Possible when her dad is the President of the United States. Sorry, Katie your just going to have to live with Mr. Cruise and ride this one out! Pre-Cruise Movie actually. Does she really get her wish? Well she gets to drive away in a pos car at the end of the movie that's all I will say.
