I absolutely love this movie. It's a great way of expressing all the shit that the pioneers, (Jake Burton, Sims, etc... had to go through to make riding what it is today.
This was an awesome look into snowboarding from its history to its present day activity. Great footage of Valdez and some incredible riding. Terje Haakonsen's descent of an AK peak is outright breath taking!
I was expecting more of a movie, not a documentary-type thing.. But the snowboarding footage was SO awesome! I snowboard myself.. I hope someday to get the guts to do something like that!
These riders are absolutely amazing, and it's cool to see some of their achievements and the beauty of the North. The only thing wrong with this movie is the speed. They could've done some more editing and packed in more action. Overall, not bad.
This flick is best viewed on a big screen TV / projector....in the dark with ample volume. You also need to be an avid snowboard enthusist to fully appreciate this movie; however, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys some serious outdoors, mountain eye candy. The helicopter/mountain scenes can make the stomach enter the throat when viewed on a decent sized screen. Check it out and form your own opinion. Don't listen to the hollywood critic bullshit, for this is a documentary and it's meant to be received as such.
