I watched this really just for Topol, who does his usual eccentricity act here, but it works. This is an overlooked film about the joys and melancholy of a marriage, with Topol playing the sort of magical catalyst figure who intervenes. The film is at its best when exploring the wordless act of following - how delicate it is! It's not the best of Peter Shaffer or Carol Reed, but this is still definitely worth a look. Featuring another beautiful, nuanced score by John Barry.
