The best British comedy ever??? This has got to be the most overrated film I have seen. It's filled with cliques. MacDowell's character Carrie was just so poorly written and never really fleshed out.
This film had some genuinely funny moments, and a nice cast. But with poorly written characters, this film is as forgettable as the dialogue.
Hate Andie MacDowell and even more Hugh Grant..But even so if the movie was good, iŽd say it. But its not! How could they put this one in the same package as Pulp Fiction and shawshank redemption?!?!

The best Romantic comedy ever, and the best there probably ever will be. The one that started it all, proved it could be done, and a masterpiece in its own right.
A cute quirky movie. Well told. The funeral speech was quite sad, that poem by Auden really got to me. They did make Carrie's character seem like a bit of slut though didn't they?
I'm sorry, but as soon as I see "Hugh Grant" in the title, I start chivering uncontrolably. No matter how good a movie is, with Hugh is't f***ed up!!
Still, this movie is not at all my thing.
What an hilarious film this is. Hugh Grant deserved his Golden Globe for his performance. The rest of the cast were pretty good. He is a bit of a slimeball really ha ha!! This is a British comedy that is classy and commercial - and most important very, very funny. Admittedly, as it charts the social, sexual and romantic fortunes of thirty-something Charles, a self-confessed serial monogamist, and the friends, old flames and potential lovers. Newell's direction switches smoothly between affecting intimacy and sequences of rowdy chaos; perhaps the films trump card, however, is its emotional honesty, particularly in the poignant and sobering funeral scene. Genuine feel-good entertainment.

Hollywood does it again. Takes a much loved childhood favorite and puts it in the same frickin plot as the last one they were too lazy to get right.
This movie is just Garfield, except it makes Garfield look kinda slick Which is depressing. Same silly set up, with the same 1 dimensional ass. It's boring as shit. And don't tell me this is a just a kids movie. Alvin and the Chipmunks CAN work extremly well. The old animated tv series is more than a testimony to that. It's just lazy work from Fox yet again.
Also as an even bigger bummer, Jason Lee kinda sucked here too. He had nothing to do really , other than sail out the boring ass plot with the cliche ending right around the corner. The only thing that comes away unscathedwas David Cross, who's obviously having a blast in this role and the chiomunks themselves, who thankfully wern't changed all that much from what we already knew and loved.
I'll go for 2/5 because now the bulcrap is over they can get back to normal chipmunk fun in the obvious sequel in two years, and even tho the set up was about as fun as brain freeze, it was a solid set up and ideally they won't be able to repeat it now.
I'm not after citizen Kane here people, i just hate getting treated like an idiot with something that deserved more.
Hugh Grant just has the monopoly on romantic comedies in the states and across the pond in my opinion. People should just stop making cheap immitations of romantic comedies because I can count the number of good ones not involving him on my fingers. Andie MacDowell is kinda aggitating as usual but the rest of the cast and the British-ness of this flick is classic.
I'd give it a higher rating because it is a great film (even though it's a predictable as hell romantic comedy). But Andie McDowell is simply awful in this. Truly wretched. My grandmother could give a cold reading of the script better than Andie's onscreen performance. And my grandmother's been dead for over 10 years.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is a British import! I really enjoy this film starring Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, & Kristin Scott Thomas.
Hugh Grant plays a man that along with his friends attend many a wedding hence the title. He is a very single man and his interest is peaked when meeting at one wedding ceremony a single American (MacDowell). Many funny scenes such as when Hugh and his sister are very late to the 1st wedding in the movie. Andie has a cute scene in trying on wedding gowns and there is a lovely sountrack...cheers!

I could give this movie two very different reviews really. One would say a nice little flick with some funny moments that left you with a warm feeling, The other would say that this romantic comedy lacked 2 things, romance, and COMEDY, there were a few easily forgettable funnies and completely corny lines. I also happen to think that woman can not act.
so baisicly im really on the fence here, i thought it was crap but i did walk away from it smiling, so i guess thats something
