"Even a broken clock is right twice a day."

Fracture is a bit of a sleeper hit in 2007 for me. I'm a little ashamed to say I avoided it for so long because it appeared to be just another rehashed psychological thriller. This film is about a young ambitious dis

...( read more)trict attorney who has the seemingly easy task of putting away a man who confessed to killing his wife. The young DA underestimates the intelligence of the convicted killer, and he is quickly immersed in a witty game of cat and mouse.

Fracture is a witty and intelligent film with great dialog. Anthony Hopkins delivers a spine-tingling performance as the creepy, but smart man who killed his adulterous wife. His performance is very reminiscent of his infamous Hannibal character. Ryan Gosling was also a pleasant surprise here. Charming and good looking, it's nice to see him break out from his The Notebook-style typecast.

Fracture is a pleasant thriller with plenty of twists and turns that will leave you guessing until the climatic end.

My only real complaint is that I found myself rooting for the bad guy (Hopkins). He was convincingly profound, humorous, and, for what it's worth, sort of justified. Gosling's character came across as an over-achieving twerp who I shared no empathy for. I couldn't care less if he bombed the case and lost his new luxurious job. I was actually rooting for it... I don't think this was the director's intentions.

Overall, Fracture is an underrated film that delivers on many levels.

I absolutely loved this film. I had two theories as to how it would end and one of them was right but I liked that fact that I wasn't sure which one.

It has a few slow spots, but overall a very good movie. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins is electric. Very entertaining and a fairly decent twist at the end.

Anthony is a wealthy businessman who murders his wife in cold blood for having an affair. An assistant DA is not his match in court and he gets off scot free even though he made a signed confession. Interesting twists in the movie.

I love this movies, cleverly played by the best snisters -anthony hopkins and young attorney -ryan gosling. Although I can guess most of the story but I enjoyed watching how they played in the game, the expressions of anthony were just perfect! I don't mind this movie at all. You get two good actors playing a nice game of cat and mouse. Hopkins is clearly just doing this fun for, playing a Hannibal-lite. And Gosling, well, he's good.
Entertaining yarn that's good for an afternoon.
