Ignore the later remakes of this movie and go back to the original, where a mom and daughter switch personalities with culture clashing comedic results. Barbara Harris, Jodie Foster, Dick Van Patten and a large cast stars. Gary Nelson directed.
One of my fave kids movies. Jodie and Barbara are hilarious. Imagine swopping a day in the life with your mum! Fave scenes - the switch between driving the car and water skiing.
For a movie made in the 70's its very very good! Both funny and well thought out! I recommend this movie to anyone who likes old sortive movies and of course the other Freaky Friday-With Lindsay Lohan in it!
I know it's the original but I really don't like this film. The whole this is just boring. I don't even like Jodie Foster in this film. I think the whole thing is pathetic and forgetable. I prefer the new one but not by much. I wouldn't recommend this it's just not worth it.
I loved this movie as a kid. Jodie Foster is terrific. She always seemed mature. After watching this, i was always worried my mom and I would switch bodies and she'd ruin my life. Weird!
I watched this on TV believing it was the re-make, and am very glad i did.
This movie was enjoyable in its simplicity, they switched and that was that, on with life.
I did however find myself cringing at the switch, i mean come on if you switched bodys with ur mom i think just a little bit of screaming would suffice.

my school used to have movies, we could pay 50 cents, and another 25 for a milk/popcorn combo and watch a movie in the gym. I remember watching this one. the thought of swappin with my mom would be the end of life as we know it, but i have fond memories of watching this movie itself
Very engaging film that spawned scores of copycats films. Jodie Foster is excellent, as is Barbara Harris in their switched roles. The ending was far better than I expected...check it out! :)
I loved it when I was a kid, and I give it 3 stars for pure nostalgia. Watching it years later, I can see how good an actress Jodie Foster would end up being and how underrated Barbara Harris was. The chase scene toward the end was completely silly, but it's a 70s Disney movie. What the hell do you want?
Great movie, and when i did watch this I started to play with thought what would happen if this would happen to me and my mom... gosh I dont want even imagine, it'd be a disaster!
I really like the lady who plays the mom in this one. She's too cute. It's surprising that such a dainty feminine woman would raise a butch like Jodie Foster. I guess you gotta suspend disbelief to fully enjoy this flim.
I'm very interested in seeing a movie that inspired a similar movie about switching bodies. That would be the original "Freaky Friday" with Jodie Foster.
