there's no doubt about the chemistry between the two stars, but not even that can hold the film together

This is so funny. Plus the ending is great.
  • June 12, 2007
Romantic and hilarious, worth watching again and again.

Particularly dumb rom com in which the ubiquitous Meg Ryan pursues her ex to Paris and tries to win him back by teaming up with Kevin Kline who sports the least convincing french accent this side of Clouseau. Junk.

Actually romantic without being a complete schmaltz.
  • September 23, 2009
    THE ENDING IS SOO GREAT.....

Not really any good as far as comedy and romance go. Bad mix for two actors to make it believable. Just missed something to make this one work.

Cute movie. Meg Ryan and Kevin Kilne are great together.

(1995 Director: Lawrence Kasdan) Poor Charlie (Tim Hoffman) has his breath taken away by a French princess.--in Paris of course! Back in Canada his fiance (Meg Ryan) cannot accept it--the news he gives her over the telephone that he fell in love with a woman, hmmm...was it the ...( read more)first or the second day he was in Paris?

Silly girl, she follows him to gay Paris (despite her insane phobia of travelling by air)...and and and...I just loved Kevin Kline in this role..His French accent and manner is an aphrodesiac...Too bad he is a scoundrel and a smuggler using Meg. But then there is the amazing actor Jean Reno (Jean-Claude in this move), a French detective who has a soft spot for Kevin that goes way way back--to when he saved his life...

Meg Ryan shares "Did you know there were 452 different processes of cheese in this country?" Poor thing. The 1st time she tried mary jane she was arrested--and has a felony on her American record...which haunts her when her passport is stolen along with her bags upon arriving..

SPOILER ALERT...Luc has such pity for poor jilted Meg Ryan it causes him to unknown to himself to fall deply in love Meg, the lactose intolerant and hopelessly ill equipped to "live" her life nonAmerican/non-Canadian with such a lack of good karma she cannot even tell a lie!...eventually turning his back on his scoundrel ways & reforming from his life of crime AFTER ONE KISS FROM MEG RYAN.

Years ago I was told I have Meg Ryan's eyes--just her eyes. Hmm ya know, I think I have also been given Bette Davis eyes too! In her role in this movie, Meg truly reminds me of myself...at about age 20-something.. Like, for instance, one day I woke up to the reality that there was in fact more to life than sex!@
OK Don't say it! Yes, I;m blonde!
