I like the way the makers didn't really take this one too seriously but I did get a little bored towards the end. I think by this point too much time has been spent at crystal lake, every slasher sequel should have a different location, that's all that differs from the original i...( read more)n most cases!

Jason returns from the mutilated, rotting dead in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. There's a little more plot in this one, kids. Tommy (Thom Mathews) wants to make sure Jason's really buried in his grave and digs him up for the corpse to get struck by lightning, resurrecting...( read more) him from the dead and another killing rampage.

Tom McLoughlin delivers a Friday that doesn't take itself to serious, making it a better film and creating the Frankenstein of our times. The acting still is subpar, but we're used to that by now. It's a fearful little jaunt to Crystal Lake.

A pretty fun addition to the franchise. First of all bringing back Jason is a major bonus and it seems as though McLoughlin has realised that slashers are more fun than frightening. So we get little comedic gems such as a James Bond opening (gun barrel style) and even a characte...( read more)r breaking the 4th wall. Funny and gory it truly resurrects the series along with its main character. Not ground breaking, but certainly one of the best in the series.

One of my favourites! I'd say if you only got to watch one Friday the 13th, you should watch this one. It's got the gore, the cheese, and Jason in all his glory.

The last in the Tommy trilogy, has Jarvis, who is apparently still at a halfway home (I'm assuming his stay was extended after his "freak out" at the end of part V), needs some closure and decides to cremate Jason's body. Things go wrong, Jason comes back and is quite pissed and ...( read more)commences to reaquire his old stomping grounds now called Forest Green. McLoughlin turns the series around briefly with this humorous, tongue-in-cheek sequel that lightly pokes fun at both the series and slashers overall.

"THE best Friday sequel." My original comment, and it still stands. This is the sequel that should have happened instead of the total screwjob that A New Beginning was and still is. Not only is it one of the best horror films of the last 3 decades, it also rises above its pred...( read more)ecessors (including the first and second films) in all categories. Tom McLoughlin, instead of sticking to the previous Friday formula, decided to completely rework the formula and not only make it satisfying to the fans of the franchise, but entertaining and even funny to newcomers. It honors the series and even horror films of the past with visual references abound, including the electrifying rebirth of Jason ALA Frankenstein. This was also the film when Jason became the superhuman zombie we all know him as today. The performances are fantastic all around, the script is dynamite and the film is endlessly well-shot and edited. Manfredini even comes up with a new type of Friday score that reflects the changes that have come with the new formula. Of all of the sequels, I enjoy watching this one the most, over and over again because of how entertaining it is, and I know there are fans out there that agree with me. It's too bad the series couldn't keep this kind of quality for the rest of the sequels that would follow, try as they might.

wasn't too bad compared to the ones that followed

Another horrible continuance with nothing new.

Jason doing what he does best. Armed to the teeth and brought back to life via lightning, he is now even more unstoppable. I think this is actually one of the most enjoyable movies in the series. It has a lot of campy performances, but the story is really interesting and a nice c...( read more)hange of pace.
