This is a lovely chick flick for a rainy day. It's funny, uplifting and the guy who all gay men and everyone else think is gay but who isn't is really sweet. Jennifer Aniston plays a good role but I feel she plays it a bit one dimensional - there's no depth to it. Overall thou...( read more)gh a good movie that I'd watch more than once.

Very interesting; simple yet satisfying character study. The film's biggest achievement is the fact that it's very well grounded in reality. Everything feels so genuine.

Competent writing/directing by Nicole Holofcener, but this little indie gem is all about its strong female...( read more) cast, led by a wonderful Frances McDormand. Jason Isaacs stands out amongst the men.

I watched this again on dvd and realized how much I truly enjoy this film. With an amazingly insightful screenplay from writer/director Nicole Holofcener, this is one good dramedy that has been unfortunately overlooked.

Here are four lifelong friends who are at different stage...( read more)s in their lives. A soccer mom who apparently "has it all"- money and a good working marriage; a writer who constantly bickers with her husband who is her writing partner; a designer who is going through menopause and doesn't know it; and an unemployed and the only single friend who is still searching for what she truly wants at 40.

They may not have been friends at all had they met at present, as Joan's soccer mom character opines, considering the disparities between their lives and financial standing. But they have become each others' confidante that there is no more questioning loyalties here.

Money is talked about unabashedly. The interesting bit is how one friend has obscene amounts of it she can donate millions to her son's school, and how Olivia the unemployed friend is cleaning houses because she has none of it. Yet we see Olivia doesn't feel inferior towards her rich friends. We later see she is hungry for something more than just money.

Having a woman writer pen stories about womens' complex lives make quite an impact. The seemingly trite situations become pregnant with so many messages. When the bare truth is said, it's funny and poignantly sad altogether. And we laugh knowing full well there are painful truths about women only another woman can truly fathom.

Dreadfully boring. That pretty sums it up. A few funny lines but overall not that great. Catherine Keener is probably the best out of it. Don't waste your time on this.

This premise and cast should have produced a much, much better movie than this. No chemistry, implausible situations, and stilted dialogue.

    Why Watch It

In this earth,we dealed with money,we dealed with peoples, and how they reacted to each other.Friends With Money is a bittersweet satire of a social caste system,in the most complicated yet not so much dramatically driven stories.

    The 360-Spin

Jen Aniston in her best acting, and in her best entourage so far ( yes, better than her Friends' cast ).

There is a simple way to describe Friends with Money, think about Sex and The City minus the shallow characters, shallow dialogue and shameless advertising and you have to very touching and insightful Friends With Money.
This is one of the movies that guys should watch just to u...( read more)nderstand female relationships. Thanks to the wonderful lead actresses in particular Frances McDormand and Jennifer Aniston (Prove after The Good Girl that she can still act). It's not perfect, the male cast really has nothing to do here (Then again they don't have to), it is slow at time and the ending doesn't really fit into the film. However just for director/writer Nicole Holofcener way with talented actresses Friends With Money is worth saying.

I love this movie because how all the characters are blunt in their dialoge. Jenn Anisten plays a character you thought she'd never do.
