From Dusk Till Dawn

Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Ernest Liu, Fred Williamson, George Clooney

The notorious Gecko Brothers, two of America's most dangerous criminals, are on the run from the Texas police and the FBI after a crime spree through the Southwest. Across the border in Mexico, the my...( read more  read more... )sterious Carlos offers sanctuary to criminals on the lam, but first they must slip past the border patrol. Enter the Fuller family: Jacob, a minister who has lost his faith and his children, the vulnerable teenage Kate and her younger brother Scott, on a road trip in their new R.V. The Gecko Brothers kidnap the Fullers and high-tail it to freedom with the promise to let the family go once they hook up with their criminal connection in Mexico. The rendezvous point is the Titty Twister, the wildest bar this side of the Rio Grande. The night is full of seductive promise as the group settles back to wait for Carlos and his boys to arrive at sunrise. But unbeknownst to the brothers or their hostages, the management and staff of this particular establishment have a taste for blood--in the vampire sense.

Great film. Two films in one really and the first time I saw it, I didn't have a clue it was a vampire movie. The script is a bit annoying at times though.

Excellent movie, starts of as a nasty violent criminal story as the Gecko's escape prison. But then turns into an amazingly gorey and sexy vamp flick. Hayek is stunning and drop dead gorgeous as are the other female neck biters and the rest is a classic all star Rodriguez line up...( read more). The action is kinda cheesey but it works well and does the job. Clooneys best work by far and the soundtrack rocks.

The true horror part is in the beginning with Tarantino's psycho. Once we get to the actual vampires it gets cartoony, but fun.

This movie was so weird! I actually enjoyed it though lol.

From Dusk Til Dawn is one of those movies I can watch a thousand times. It is not only one of my favorite vampire movies, but a favorite, period. I genuinely love this movie!
I am a fan of both Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. I think this is a phenomenal collaboration for...( read more) them. The story is great, the acting isn't miserable, and the horror aspect isn't over the top cheesy.
The casting of this movie is spot on. I love Tarantino as Richie, he does disturbed so convincingly. George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, and Cheech Marin are also stellar. Salma Hayek is fantastic as Santanico Pandemonium. She's beautiful.
This film has some excellent dialogue and some well timed comic moments. I remember seeing it for the first time in the theater. I literally burst out laughing a time or two. This film also has a sublime soundtrack. Dark Night by The Blasters and After Dark by Tito and Tarantula remain on my IPod.

Robert Rodriguez directed this bizarre and fun twist on the horror genre (from a clever screenplay by Quentin Tarantino). George Clooney and Tarantino are Seth and Richie Gecko, a couple of badass criminals on the run in Texas. They hijack a family (led by now faithless ex-preach...( read more)er Harvey Keitel and lovely young daughter Juliette Lewis). The band of outlaws takes to a Mexican strip bar called the Titty Twister (an absolute triumph of production design!) and finds that they are not in Texas anymore (well...duh!). Soon, this motley crew is forced to face down an army of vampires (including Salma Hayek as queen stripper Satanico Pandemonium!). This sleaze-o-rama grade-zilch horror story is preceded by a good hour or more of well-written if cliched crime movie material (Stockholm Syndrome, anyone?). Still, the performances and Rodriguez's loving treatment of the genre elevate the material to near-art.

Awesome, gruesome and witty, another gem from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez directs this wild action packed vampire tale. Salma Hayek sizzles onscreen as the snake woman in the Titty Twister. One of the best vampire flicks I've seen.
