Far from grace and one angel is left - Gabriel. Only his warrior prowess and determined heart rivals that of the mighty archangel Sammael. For the souls lost in purgatory from both the forces of the "light" and "dark." But who will win in this ultimate battle; good, evil, or perh...( read more)aps no one at all? Andy Whitfield, Dwaine Stevenson, Erika Heynatz, Samantha Noble and Jack Campbell star in this low budget Australian film but not so low on a dark storyline, depth or even though how brief, the fight scenes. Gabriel is well worth taking a second look at. Do try and keep an open mind, its not your "average" heaven VS hell, angels waring over souls run of the mill film.

Movie of good angels vs fallen angels fighting it out on earth. The idea of the story is OK, but I disliked the inconsistencies. For instance six bullets don't even knock Michael over yet fist fighting knocks him down. I also didn't understand the why of the last scene. Altho...( read more)ugh I only give it 3/5, I would watch it again.

A real missed opportunity, I was hoping for much more after seeing the trailer. The idea is good but the end result is not. It trys too hard to be a mix of the Matrix and Sin city, but the fights look strange and the CGI is over used. Watch it on TV if you have to but don't pay t...( read more)o see this.

An intriguing plot with a dark haunting vision of the battle between heaven and hell.

While it's somewhat derivative it is highly entertaining nontheless.
I do have some minor issues with the ending though.

    Looks like Constantine, eh?

It had no complex plot, I mean it had graphics, and the theme was great, but they could do so much more with it...much...much more.

The only good thing in this movie is the beauty of Andy Whitfield.
But I don't intend to be injust, so I also have to say that the few fights was ok too.

I didn't like the story, the only thing cool about it was the name of the angels and how they looked like as humen. Uriel was...( read more)n't a girl to disgrace of who thought Angels had genre... but in this movie it happens... There is a angel-girl in this movie and she, obviously has a relashionship with Gabriel, I'm sorry I forgot her name, but I can't remember it, as their name was somewhat strange. And their relashioship was obvious because every bad movie must have at least one sensuous scence to be a bit respected,
    .
What else can I say about this movie? hmm well, this movie hasn't much to be said.

when i think of angels, i rarely think of them having to use guns. Gabriel is a bit of a confused film, trying to encapsulate the dark, angsty sort of feel which many action films sport today and focus on the main character, the angel Gabriel. If the creators were truly serious ...( read more)about this, we would see no pulled punches or flimsy suggestions of violence and if it was better funded there would be more effects than using contact lenses, but we cant blame them for that. even though this film has some pretty cool action sequences and a good concept, Gabriel himself is a little one-dimensional and Sammael is not quite scary enough, but the twist is alright. the other arcs are a bit wussy but overall it's a pretty good film.

    Defining Scene:
When Gabriel cracks the shits and goes rampaging. angels gone bad is so very very good.

Gabriel is about an arc angel fell from Heaven onto Earth. Before him, a few other arc's have fallen. All have succumbed to the evils of the world, with the majority taken rule over it. The rest have gone into hiding and used fear to over power them. Gabriel (Andy Whitfie...( read more)ld) brings new hope and reminds them of the reason why they are there. What he doesn't know is that when he uses his power of healing, it depletes, also making him a target for the other arc's. I liked the general idea of the plot. Gabriel is filmed in a dark setting similiar to The Crow and Dark City. It somewhat manages to steal a few ideas off of The Crow actually. It's a breath of fresh air in the battle of "Heaven and Hell" films that are being dished out as of late, though.

    Wasn't feeling this!!!

It makes The Prophecy looks like a Oscar Winner.
This could've been saved with some good action sequences since the plot sucks. This Prophecy wannabe was trying to achieve Sin City look :-0 but i'm sure the budget only allow the director to do camera tricks.

Loved it. I've seen so much other trash released big screen that had huge budgets that didn't come close to the sincerity of this indie flick. Its nice to see the little guy do good for once. A lot of reviews were negative but I don't see how? This film, viewed by itself and not compared to others was very well done, especially considering the budget and time limits. The core of the film's plot has been done before yes, the difference is this one was done better. There is so much passion in the actor's performances. The pain of discovering emotions - sorrow, fear, anger and love; trying to cope with it all, save your friends, save the world and not drown in the despair was beautifully done by Andy Whitfield. The dark cinematography adds to the bleakness enhancing the desire to see Gabriel restore the light. The final fight scene on the roof was revealing, intense, exciting, sad, full of regret, full of love and redemption. Shane and company should be very proud. Make me another one!
