Toru (Kaho) takes the tiny Gamera home to tell his friends & next neighbor girl named Mai is older than Toru and looks after him. He revealed that Gamera is no ordinary turtle named Toto as he learns to fly and shoot small fireballs from his mouth. Toto is actually the son of the Gamera would be 200 feet tall. Gamera spins around and around and jets off into the sky.
Three cheers for Toto! You may be able to tell by my profile pic that I absolutely adore this film. While the heisei-era Gamera's were spectacular, Gamera The Brave brings Gamera back to his childhood roots with success the showa-era Gamera movies could only dream of. The action took a backseat in this one, but the bond between Toto and Toru is fully fleshed out and the action that is there is great. Top-notch kaiju movie and one of my favorites to be sure.
Great stuff, a return to form for Kaiju. It's hard to even watch lower-tier Godzilla movies after this one. :P Lots of fun, even when I have no idea what anyone is saying! ^_^
