The movie starts off great but it goes downhill. I like to think that there never was a movie after the series.

I thought the movie started great, but the ending was a real let-down... I'd prefer to leave the anime stand on it's own story-wise, but it was still a great movie to watch!

just because I'm a bit lazy now (ok, always) I copy/paste my coment on the movie xD :
No one than hasn't seen the series can understand how good it is this movie... sorry for them xDD Edo I will follow you to any world! hurra!? history content, an explanation to any doubt of the series and the feeling of a sequel in the end, combined with amazing animation makes of this movie with unexpected final impossible to lose (even for the ones who doesn't like anime)

what can I say?? I just loved it (even more because no one could predict what would happen in the end)
and because Winry was left faaaaaaaaar away jaja

This is the story of two brothers who are separated by "The Gate". The brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric have such a determination to reconnect together they will do whatever it takes to join together and conquer the unbreakbable bond of brotherhood.
I highly recommend this movie being a huge fan of the anime myself and having the honor to talk to Vic Mignogna himself (The english voice of Ed). You wouldn't have a clue about what the movie was about though if you didn't watch the series (which I highly recommend as well).
This is an enjoyable movie for people of all ages to share the touching and heartbreaking tale of these two brothers and all of the lives they have touched during their journies.

((By the way, in the special book Hiromu Arakawa wrote they state that Edward is 5 foot 4 inches including his antenna and elevator shoes.))

For all those who are wondering whats Edward reall height here it is

Edward was 150 cm in the beginning of the series, at age 15. In a manga omake, he claims to be 165 cm, which includes his lock of hair that sticks nearly straight up and his platform boots, but an official height chart shows him at 150 cm. That converts to approximately 4'11". It is unknown if he has actually gotten taller in the manga since then, but in the anime he does get taller.
