One year after losing her mother, Natalie (Page) and her father Wes (Michael Ontkean) decide they could use a change of scenery. Roaming the countryside in search of a new house, they meet elderly widow Mrs. Ashboro (Shirley Knight), who lives alone with her beloved cat Margaret. Though Mrs. Ashboro wants nothing more than to spend her remaining days in her cozy cottage, her scheming nephew Boyd (Tom Barnett) is scrambling to sell the place in order to cover some shady business dealings. And Mrs. Ashboro isn't the only one in dire financial straits; her neighbor Brenda (Lori Hallier) is fighting a greedy land developer who's pressuring her to sell her animal shelter. When Mrs. Ashboro and her cat die unexpectedly, Natalie and her father decide to purchase the cottage. Upon moving in, Natalie begins to sense that they're not alone in their new home. And she's right; Margaret's ghost still wanders the halls, and she's the only one who knows where Mrs. Ashboro stashed away the $50,000 she had been keeping secret from Boyd. Perhaps with a little help from Margaret, Natalie can expose Boyd and Riker for the swindlers that they are and finally start a new life in the country with her father. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
