    This movie is aptly introduced by the clips from Stanley Milgram's "obedience" experiment at Yale which was meant to explore the psychological underpinnings of the Holocaust, showed that men were so inclined to follow orders (in the face of apparent authority) that they would del...( read more)iver high-voltage electric shocks to other men despite screams and pleas to stop. The central question of this movie: how were the soldiers stationed at Abu Ghraib, seemingly cruel and indifferent to the dignity and suffering of the inmates, able to carrying out orders (and at times self-directed) to inflict physical and psychological trauma on captured Iraqis? The film does a good job of explaining how the structure of the bureaucracy which protects higher-ranking officials from blame while putting blame on those who have least control over what they do. The historical reference to Eisenhower's Farewell Address to the Nation, especially his notion of the "industrial military complex" foregrounds nicely the complex system that "makes war profitable" and explains the corporate (and even governmental) interests that are tied to it's continuation. - Antony Chum, June 11, 2007.

    This documentary was gut wrenching. A MUST see. I was touched and saddend by this film. If you ever watch any film make it be this one.
