without question, this film is a massive disappointment. having said that, i waited so long to see it that all i heard was how unwatchable this movie is, so im surprised by how much i didnt hate this film. as a fan of the cartoon in the 80's i was hoping for a good film, and i ...( read more)think a more capable director could have given us something much better, but at least i was entertained enough to consider this a mildly watchable and average film. the acting was horrific, the special effects not at all on par with current quality, and the portrayal of the characters was weak, but it at least kept me interested enough to want to know how the train wreck would end, and that makes the film somewhat salvageable.

So, what were you expecting...pure genius?
I have seen the bad reviews and I agree, but what did you set out to watch? Did you expect some mix of Platoon with The Matrix?
This is more like "Inspector Gadget" meets "Transformers."
Set your expectations where they belong...low ...( read more)and this film will sit fine.
Good eye candy delivered via CGI.
Good eye candy delivered In the shallow acting of some very pretty people (Come to me Rachel ;).
    Tons of action and explosions.
    Hollow characters.
    Loose plot.
    Things that make no sense.
    Blockbuster fodder.
If you wanted more than this then you would have chosen something that was not named after an action figure, but you didn't...you chose "G. I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" and as ridiculous as it was to watch it was simply candy and delivered that quite well. That is all this movie was good for and nothing else. Something to rest those Alpha/Beta waves.
Now, stop complaining and go watch "Apocalypse Now."

By far, one of the worst films of the decade.

For start, it's absolutely boring. Visual effects are disgustingly awful and look like a 90's videogame from start to finish. Every single performance is completely out of tone with the movie: Channing Tatum thinks he's in some sort ...( read more)of indie Irak small-town drama, Marlon Wayans is boring, Sienna Miller thinks she's on a SNL sketch, Dennis Quaid doesn't understand a word he says the entire time and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, well, he's just thinking about the nice new fridge he's going to buy with his paycheck. When you think sci-fi/action fans will be pleased about a Brendan Fraser cameo, you have serious issues with reality.

But, I guess we couldn't expect more from the director who brought us The Mummy Returns and Van Helsing.

I stood up and walked away from my living room after 30 minutes, and my parents turned it off ten minutes later. And they like any piece of crappy action blockbuster they see. Go figure.

A fun time, for it being a giant toy commercial.
