Plot: Set in 19th Century Canada, Brigette and her sister Ginger take refuge in a Traders' Fort which later becomes under siege by some savage werewolves.
This is my F.A.V.O.R.I.T.E. of the three movies. I love the Victorian era, so that may have something to do with it, but the story is completely original to itself, rather than being a parallel of the first movie. I appreciate that greatly. In my opinion, an amazing movie, all around.
Um bom filme de lobisomem e o primeiro que eu consegui assistir da série, então talvez minha opinião esteja mais "limpa" que o normal.
I've seen this movie several times but i feel it wasnt as good as the first two were, but i felt like they were repeating alot of things. but i what i did like was the native american mythology/religion to how the werewolf curse began that was cool

Really bad. This movie makes no sense with the other 2 movies, a prequel that takes place 100 years in the past is just stupid. It felt to me like a cheap way of brining Ginger back for the whole movie. It's like a rehashing of the first film but way in the past!
It really says something when a film manages to be interesting and not drag when there is a completely lack of music/soundtrack.
felt about the same as the 1st Ginger Snaps movie but a nice set-up for the storyline...both of the ladies were just amazing... Emily Perkins really came into her own in this movie.. she has grown since the 1st installment in this movie series
I'm confused. Did the girls from Ginger Snaps go back in time? Is this just another story about two other werewolf girls who look the same and have the same names as the ones we know and love? And now the werewolf thing is part of some indian curse? Count me pissed. Still better than most werewolf movies. While it's not a bad movie, I was expecting Ginger Snaps and this just isn't it. Emily Perkins is still hot though and in this one she gets to wear a corset.
This was the most unique movie out of all three. The idea to make the setting in the 1800's was perfect. It was still as good as the first one. I think the idea was genuiune and perfect. It didn't stray too far away from the orginial plot. Which was good. It added its own creepy quirks to it aswell as sticking with some original ones as well. I think the ending to this movie was my faveorite part. I think it was perfect. It was differant from the first movie but you fell in love with it all the same. I think this one really showed the bond the sisters had in a different way from the other two movies. Like the first one the bond was broken. I liked this movie for the bond. But the first one was perfect too. I love this triolgy.
not my fav one but the stiry is great! i love the fact that at the end the have the mark explanation of the first film!!
This is supposed to provide an insight to the beginning of the werewolf menace, but it doesent deliver much in the way of answers. Instead it ends up being one of those stories of the creepy villigers holed up in a shabby town. It could have been done alot better, but thats not to say its not withour its perks. Like a mutant kid haunting the mansion. Ugly!
Justins Best Bit: Ginger becoming the queen bitch of the werewolves and unleashing them on the town.
It was okay, I much prefer the first two films in the series but for what it was, I guess it fit the bill though I hardly believe people in the 19th century said the word 'fuck.'
This shows how the curse starts but doesn't really make sense.
The sisters don't have any children so how does the curse manage to carry on?
I haven't seen this film but this film does look awsome I can't wait to see it and see how good it actually is.
Boy this one just plain old didn't work. It came close at times, but ultimately falls just short.
Kudos for, once again, taking the series in a completely different direction from the previous encarnations. This is as different from the previous two as they are from eachother. The setting is interesting and the premise, a trader's outpost, low on food, under siege from werewolves is damn near perfect.
The problems, unforunately, abound. The direction is weak at best, and doesn't manage to wring out any tension or pathos. The writing is arbitrarily anachronistic which, along with the humor, doesn't work at all. The performances are universally mediocre to poor, including our two lovely leads who have been great before, doubtless will be again, but seem out of their depth here. The reliance on "native american" mumbo jumbo is a lazy cliché and there are many plot points unexplored and questions left unanswered. The ending is apropriately dark, but never generates the feelings it so desperately wants to, mostly because of the before mentioned plot holes and unexplored plot threads. That it works at all is due more to the previous Ginger Snaps films than anything in this one.
While I can't say I felt bad for watching it (as if I would, with Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle) it was certainly not a good film. It feels much more like a terribly missed opportunity than a worthwhile sequel/prequel/reimagining/whatever the fuck this is.
A bit of a let down compared to the first 2 movies. this one just turned out to be a typical werewolf/horror movie, where as the first 2 were completely unpredictable and different. Gotta love the doomsday sort of endings though!

I hear there are more Ginger Snap movies. By itself, this one is OK I guess. What one would expect for werewolf beginnings.
I am sooo disappointed by this! It has none of the witty, black humour I enjoyed in the other two films. It takes itself too seriously in fact and does itself no favours by applying a period setting (which I tend not to like anyway) and then no being true to it! Why use the 19th century then have the characters using phrases like 'fucked up'?!! I don't see the point of this film even being made.
It works reasonably well as a period horror movie, and although better than Unleashed is ultimately flat compared to the original. Still, it gets some points for the two rather attractive Native American men, and in general the film looks beautiful.
A Prequel to the first 2 "Ginger Snaps" movies, set in the 19th Century. It's good if you are familiar with the characters before hand.
