A great story. The second half more than makes up for the slow-paced start. I was impressed, yet again, by Al Pacino and Jack Lemmon was phenominal. The climax is superb and leaves you asking questions. No typical hollywood ending here!

The story is unique and well structured. The film is heavy in dialouge so, impressive, inventive dialouge is needed. That's exactly what is used in this picture. I belive Al Pacino deserved to win the "Best surporting actor" academy award, but as I haven't seen Gene Hackman's winning performance in Unforgiven, I can't really judge yet.

Probably the best ensemble cast doing pure acting since the original 12 Angry Men. The plot is simple: four salesmen. First place is a new Cadillac. Second place is a set of steak knives. Third place is your fired. It's as simple as that and yet it weaves a complex web of what evil men are willing to do to either achieve their prize or simply keep their job.
This is the cast that dreams are made of Baldwin, Spacey, Harris, Arkin, Pryce, and Pacino are all on top of their game, but it's Jack Lemmon that really steals the movie. Lemmon's performance is golden and proved that he could still do the job after all these years. If you want to see a premium performance from Jack Lemmon, this is it.

A captivating glimpse inside the slimy world of commission sales. Once in a lifetime cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin and Alan Arkin. Great film if you don't mind the high P.Q. (profanity quotient).

Came off like "Reservoir Dogs"' little brother. This was not as intense as "Wall Street" or even "Boiler Room", but worth seeing for the intriguing interaction of the all star cast.

An amazing cast, all delivering their best performances throughout the film. The stage play translates perfectly to film, and prises apart working life in a very darkly comic manner, without exaggeration. This film is universally accessible to anyone who works in the West, certainly. A masterpiece.

I can find no reason to not award this phenomenal film 5 stars. The whole movie is dialogue driven with very simple sets, and limited scenery, and the plot is simple... 4 men are pitted against each other in a battle to see who can sell the most real estate, 2 men keep their jobs winner gets a cadillac and second gets a set of steak knives, the other two... well they just lose their jobs! But the real beauty of this film is David Mamet's script, also accompanied by probably the most talented set of actors come together in a film, and which could easily be described as Jack Lemmon's best performance and possibly one of the best performances ever.

I only watched this because a co-worker kept telling me to. I think you would have to be in the Real Estate business to truly apprieciate this. The flick consisted mostly of dialog. Wasn't really that interesting in my opinion but I could relate somewhat to the topic. Alec Baldwin was the best part of this film and he was only on camera for one scene that lasted roughly 6 minutes. I can say with all honesty I will never watch this again.

This film is all about characters taking the piss out of each other, which was amusing and just fun since all the actors are good at what they do. Still hardly anything actually "happened", just lots of angry dialogue so it's no classic.

The storyline is a bit dry.

However, it had a great ensemble cast - all who gave solid, enjoyable performances. They were very convincing at playing real estate agents.

It made me laugh too, mostly because of all the swearing! Probably had the most obscenity I've heard in 1 film!

And to think, yours truly almost got this job. Man, the life of a salesman is rough. He has to sell his soul and be the best at it. Not even the best at being a salesman. The best at losing his humanity. Because it is a semi-legal con. It's taking confiedance men and stretching the bounds of the law to make it as close to legal as it can get. Wow. This movie is rough.

This is another of the "501". I'm glad that I picked this one because this is, another, of my ashamed pics. There's oh-so-many movies out there and I just never got around to Glengarry Glen Ross. You'd think I would. I'm a huge Mamet fan and I think this is one of his best scripts. Most of the movie you can't even hear him. But then there are those parts...

Mamet has a very "too realistic" way of speaking. His characters are all very clever, which I personally like. But there is that moment (that you really see with Ed Harris and Alan Arkin) where characters speak over each other and you can just see the pins being set up for one another. But that's okay because I know it's a Mamet.

This really is a great performance piece. Every actor is perfect in this sausage fest of a film. These are some of the greatest actors of this generation. I'm not a big Pacino fan, but he really steals some spotlight in this one. But then there's Kevin Spacey. I shotgunned a lot of Spacey early on and then called him one of the perfect actors. Then I started to avoid some of his films just to maintain that illusion. (Mainly K-Pax) But he is just right for this part, which is funny because he seems to have fewer lines with more people than anyone else. He's the sounding board for a lot of things.

I miss Jack Lemmon. Hearing him cuss naturally is a treat. It's like hearing a morning dove in winter. You aren't used to hearing it, but it is wonderful to hear. He knows how to cuss convincingly. Most actors from his generation overemphasize their cussing. Not Lemmon. Dead on with his f*cks. He delivers a dynamite performance and now I get the "Gil" character on The Simpsons.

This is based on a play, and it is well translated to the screen. Each actor does a great job, I do not dare to say who acted better than who, but Alec Baldwin will surely stun you.

The cast is jaw-dropping in this indictment of the real estate business. Lemmon, Pacino, Baldwin, Harris, Arkin, the list goes on, it's just a shame the narrative doesn't do anything you wouldn't expect it to.

What a powerful film. And a very strong cast. It's gripping every time you watch it. I got a chance to see Spacey and Lemmon in Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey Into Night" in the Old Vic in London in 1986. Equally strong performances by both act...(read more)ors.

Spectacular screen play, quick witted and acid tongued communication between four real estate employees, the boss and their unsuspecting 'deadbeat' leads. It's more about getting the good 'leads' and scmoozing each other about past sales, than really applying the 'Always Be Closing' and 'A.I.D.A.' applications of success. This movie makes me fear the unexpected doorbell ring and telephones without caller ID!

David Mamet at his best. This movie has, quite possible, the best cast on in the history of film. The dialog is absolutely electric. The tension gets to the point of boiling.

This movie makes me rethink all of those Arthur Miller themes of American salesman for the 20th Century.

The question is, has the salesman really died, or has he been reborn as a corporate stooge, hell bent on survival?

Very good dialogue movie. Not too much action if that is what you are looking for. I really enjoyed all the great acting though.
