A big green Bogey that totally misses the point of the original classic Japanese versions.

    REVIEW

Despite the promise of its snide tagline "Size Does Matter", Godzilla's penis never fully comes into play; herein, he reproduces asexually. People who re-make campy monster movies have got to consider what made the originals great - and, it usually has nothing to do with a bulging budget. The original "Godzilla" was endowed with some personality, despite being relatively low-budget in appearance. This version is one long special effect. The filmmakers include a spiteful, sarcastic swipe at movie critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, who must have found their thumbs going limp after witnessing "Godzilla".

Hmmm very dodgy US update of the classic Tokyo destroying lizard. Its a rip of so many ideas, and the little baby zillas make it even worse, almost 'Jurassic Parkish' crossed with 'Aliens'. The look is good, the effects being quite decent for the time, its all cgi of course but c...( read more)os its dark alot it does look good.
The best part of the film easily is the choppers attacking zilla and being chomped down one at a time. The cast is pretty lame though, Broderick isnt fit to be in anything frankly and Azaria should stick to TV comedies, Reno is the best actor on show here.
Basically the film looks good and thats it, the rest is abit embarassing really.

Sergeant O'Neal: We need bigger guns

A giant lizard faces off against Ferris Bueller, Leon the Professional, and Hank Azaria in an epic showdown about radioactive tests, big lizards with raptor-like children, and the Madison Square Garden.

The team behind Independence day brin...( read more)gs an event film version of Godzilla to the big screen. Its a big, loud, terrible movie that I can't help but enjoy due to its stupidity.

Dr. Niko Tatopoulus: The radiation isn't an anomaly, it's the clue.

Awful dialog, awful casting, and other strange issues make this into a terribly enjoyable film.

It is fairly cool to see Godzilla terrorizing New York, even if some of the effects are iffy.

Colonel Hicks: We didn't accomplish anything.
Dr. Niko Tatopoulus: No, we fed him.

I want to watch it, and I would watch it, but I would then probably convince myself that this could really happen, so I don't plan on watching it!

This movie isn't even fit to growl at it's predecessor. A horrible remake.

Perdí el dinero del cine. Fue pesima!!! No naturalidad, no hay efectos que le ayuden. Quizá una nueva versión con un mejor director.

My favorite movie all the time, in the next decade I think I can be pleased to keep watchin' it if I'll still be able to, yeah it's much different than "original Godzilla", man, it's just a big-ass lizard. Original one is more like a "mysterious monster" but in Hollywood there's gotta be a reason concerned, I call it "Scientific fantasy" lol.

The original Godzilla (Gojira) had no other monsters in it.

Why isn't Vicky Lewis listed as a cast member?

This movie shouldn't have used the name Godzilla, there was nothing that remotely resembled Godzilla here, no theme, classic falling backwards constantly, no evil monster other than himself, this is not a Godzilla flick, this is Sony's half-assed attempt to make money off of Godzilla that sells very well in America, the real Godzilla. Sorry folks if you want to see the real thing, check out the Godzilla from the orginial Toho movie company... it may be bad dubbing and what not but its still better than something that is fake.

I just thought id add this in here, this version is alot better than the rubber suit. Come on, you have to agree? I hate hearing people say it "wasnt like the old versions" Well no shit sherlock, millions of dollars arent being spent on technology to have a guy sweat his balls off in a rubber suit now is it? Also, the guy who did the comment below this one, seriously dude, get a goatee, contact lenses and dress snappier. You can tell me about how youve slept with lots of girls and have a girlfriend and everything. I wont believe you. And i dont thik ill be alone. Heed these words of wisdom.

This is definitely a superb, underrated film. Ignore ALL bad reviews until you've seen it yourselves. And whether you like this film or not, you'ew bound to like the cartoon series set after it - it's about the battles of the one Zilla that survived, and he has new powers that would give his late father a run for his money, including proper nuclear flame breath!

Awesome. This is definatley the best creature ever created. What other monster can run through a city, stubbing his toe on military tanks and slashing away at airborn support?

Justins Best Bit: The great lizard taking a chomp out of an unsuspecting helicopter.
