I didn?t think much of it to be honest but thought Brosnan was a good choice for Bond

The reason why I love Bond films today. Goldeneye offers the perfect blend of action, babes, and spy hijinks. Later Brosnan movies would become mired in silly plots and an over-reliance on special effects, but Goldeneye still stands today as one of the best movies in the entire s...( read more)eries.

    My 2nd fav bond movie.

It's a bit dated already and goofy. Xenia crushing dudes to death with her sexy legs was hot. Hotter than balls full of coal.

The 17th official Bond film. It had been six years since the previous installment. The opening car chase is fairly exciting, but contains the weird coincidence of Janssen as Xenia Onatopp racing Bond before she becomes established as the main hench-woman. The opening credits h...( read more)ave more creative visuals than some others and the theme song is written by Bono and The Edge and performed by Tina Turner. So it seems by the mid-90s that filmmakers were more confident in their effects and stunt work. In order to keep a more economical budget this movie does not rely on digital effects, but still includes some amazing scale model work. From the stunt sequence following the opening credits, it looks like the filmmakers are too confident in thinking they can pass the stunt man off as the lead actor. The camera doesn't exclusively shoot the stunt man in long shots, but gets closer as would be expected of a modern action movie. Viewing it one time, perhaps he would pass, but looking more closely it is not hard to recognize that the hair and profile and eyes are not Brosnan's. The special features bragged a bit about Brosnan doing a lot of his own stunts, but definitely not the major stunts, you can pick out the stunt man quite often.

Martin Campbell, who would also direct Daniel Craig's Casino Royale, directs. Sean Bean starts off as an ally of Bond, but turns out to be the mastermind, Janus, behind the evil scheme in this picture. The evil plot has to do with using the GoldenEye key to activate a satellite, which aims electric pulses at a target disrupting and destroying all electrical equipment in the area. The weapon destroys all evidence of its own trace, and by taking out all computers in say, London, there would be an economic meltdown. Gottfried John plays General Ourumov, one of the lead players assisting Janus in his plans. Onatopp is the main muscle behind Janus with her powerful thighs and orgasmic response to committing violence. Cumming is Boris, a slimy little computer nerd who provides Janus his tech support. Coltrane has a small part as the arms dealer, Valentin, who makes a deal with Bond to get him a meeting with Janus. Izabella Scorupco plays Natalya, I think one of the much better actresses to play a Bond girl. She has computer skills too that come in very handy and has a strong personality. Joe Don Baker makes another appearance in this Bond film as a different character. Again the American CIA steps in to help, but this time it's not Leiter, Baker plays Jack Wade. Judi Dench makes her first appearance as M, but I hadn't remembered that there are several lines of dialog explicitly referring to her as a new M. Samantha Bond plays a new Miss Moneypenny. While Desmond Llewelyn is still around as Q.

Again, early on in the story Brosnan is established as Bond by playing baccarat in a casino against a femme fatale and ordering his martini in the classic fashion. This is nearly the same way every other Bond has been introduced. The action and effects show a lot of talent. The fight scenes are more believable and at the same time more brutal than many of their predecessors. I was left with the feeling that the story wasn't very well put together though. The situations were choppy, they didn't flow smoothly. The movie had some good moments, but didn't really excite me.

GoldenEye is an iconic James Bond movie, holding a part of my growing up as any other movie.

Pierce Brosnan is one of my favourite to play the character, and this is his best 007 effort. Sean Bean playing the double crossing agent is fantastic as the baddie, and I enjoyed his pe...( read more)rformance in this, showing his ability to act convincingly and whilst I can't say much more about this I can say that it is one of the best James Bond movies.
