The 40 minute car chase was pretty awesome. Although the film leading up to it has been called artistic genius, I have to admit I didn't see that. Despite the over-dialogue and the jumping around, you could almost watch the movie on mute and still get what was happening. I don't recommend that during the car sequences. It's also neat that Halicki chose to show all the damage and injury caused by these car chases that action movies tend to skip over.
"Hot people....not allowed", very old school, can chew Jolie and Cage spat them out, perfectly a real car chase movie for all of you so called speed junkies.
Half of this movie was really bad acting, pitch dark and unsharp pictures and terrible sound that made me wonder why I'm seeing it.
The other half was a kinda good car chase which is pretty much the reason for giving this film any stars at all.
Lucky us Halicki didn't do so many movies.
This movie was hilariously with poor quality except for two things: the cars and the car crashes. Seeing as these comprised more than half the film then thumbs up! The town's police played the police, firemen played the firemen and even the mayor played the mayor.
Much better than that POS that Nick Cage did not too long ago. Unfortunately the two sequels are totally stupid and made up of scrap footage. But in the original Gone, there ain't any CGI, all that stuff is real.
omg the best movie i ev er did see lots of action my kind a movie and all the LADIES r so hot all of them i wish i had one of them i ride all night long i see myself alredy in it
Surprisingly, not that great of a film. If you've been reading my reviews for a while, I've been on this culty-classic-car flick theme recently. Blame Tarantino's Death Proof. But this movie really suffers. I don't want to be so cruel as to give this movie one-and-a-half stars, becuase I didn't loathe it, but this just isn't a good movie.
Pretty much this movie is just throwing money at the screen and saying "I'm so rich I can smash up a bunch of cars." There is almost no film-making or acting involved in this movie. While car movies depend on their cool factor, this movie just tries so damned hard to be cool that it kind of fails. The acting is horrendous. No shock, because director, producer, owner, etc is the lead role in this movie. And boy-oh-boy, does he ever think that he can bring the goods. While most of the movie is pretty miscast, H.B. Halicki takes the cake as just lame. Now, usually when a cult movie is bad, there's usually some entertaining aspect of it because of it's terrible nature. I really couldn't find it in this one. Remember, I'm the dude who gave Black Samurai five stars for camp, so I'm pretty forgiving. But this movie is just terrible without the enjoyable part.
But what about the Guinness Book famous chase scene? Yeah, there are a bunch of cars, but the chase choreography is just lame. Cars are destroyed without any thought to pacing or importance or anything. I was bored out of my mind.
One thing I also feel that I should address is the racist feel that I get from this movie. There's a recurring shot of a bunch of black kids in the back of a car. They have no dialogue. I can safely say that 10 minutes of footage was given to them saying black, stereotypical nonspeak. Just "yeah" and "all rights". Seriously?
THE BEST ALWAYS HAS TO BE THE ORIGINAL.
