In the original film, each character claimed one episode, and the three stories converged at the end. One tale concerned the goateed Furio, a Torinese man driving his wife bonkers with his ignorant motor mouth; another observed Pasquale, a southern Italian man who moved from his adopted home of Munich back to Italy - and subsequently had his car dismantled and stolen, one piece at a time; the third story followed Mimmo, a whiny Trasteverian manchild traveling with his enormously overweight grandmother. The film's sequel (produced nearly 30 years later) observes the same three characters at a later point in life (again, all played by Verdone), as they near the end of the first decade of the 21st century. Verdone resumes directing chores. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
