the true story of jerry lee lewis..the once known as the singer who dumps elvis on the no.1 spot on billboard 100! and eventually the fall of his career...i like it because of winona ryder, she's sooo pretty on this one
pretty much amazing. dennis quaid is so fabulous at this part it is insane. you can tell he took it in & became jerry lee lewis in this movie. he was so wonderful at portraying the crazyness, and he was so over-the-top about it but it didn't matter, that made it even greater. i was also impressed by winona ryder's performance. the music was there, the romance was there, the comedy parts were there... it was just such a great & entertaining movie that i will never forget & would love to see again.
This is a great movie...between the soundtrack and acting, its right on point! Jerry Lee was a complete loon, but a brilliant musician/entertainer....I guess there is a fine line between brilliant and insane.
Synopsis: Dennis Quaid's delightfully over-the-top performance dominates this 1989 biopic about the life, times, and music of rocker Jerry Lee "the Killer" Lewis. It's all here: his snazzy threads, his devil-may-care Southern charm, his mane of golden hair, hi...
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Winona Ryder
Directed by: Jim McBride
dennis quaid is a good actor, but this is not a good one for him...winona ryder plays her part well...but i don't think i'd watch this one ever again...not really worth it in my opinion.
Ooh, I saw this movie when I was in the 6th grade and was sort of disturbed that Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder played cousins who married each other. And I think she was only like 13-years-old or something. Ew! The music is great though. And Dennis Quaid is very good. You can tell he's lip syncing but other than that, he's fun to watch.
This is a great biography film here, originally coming from Myra Gale Lewis's life story with Jerry Lee Lewis, Dennis Quaid plays the bad boy with such ease, the music is fantastic. and Winona Ryder is acctaully in character for once, she plays Myra wonderfully. Great Movie if you love Jerry Lee!
Dennis Quaid's larger than life portrayal of the larger than life Jerry Lee Lewis and the songs are the main appeal of this glossy biopic, which has it has a tendency to "gloss" over some of the more distasteful elements of the man's life.
Dennis Quaid's portrayl of "The Killer" was poor. Thank God the producers didn't tamper with "The Killer's" music which was genuine & save the day from being a complete flop. Nothing like "Ray" who Lewis admired.
I absolutely love Dennis Quaid in this movie based on the life of Jerry Lee Lewis. He does such a great job playing the role and it's just a fun movie!!
Little weird...Jerry Lee Lewis did have some problems (marring his cousin, for instance)but he definiatly could sing!Denis Quiad did an awsome job at portraying Jerry Lee.
