A very interesting portrait into the human psyche. My only major fault was Herzog imposes too much of himself and his views into the film - it's unnecessary.

Fascinating documentary about obsession, insanity, nature and of course bears. This, by a lot of turns, is moving, disturbing and laugh-out-loud funny.

"Documentary can be a powerful genre of cinema. It can entertain us, inform us, enthrall us, and provide a view of both sides of a particular argument. But it's quite rare to find one which doesn't achieve those things through influence or sometimes even sheer force. Grizzly Man is an engaging, honest, and powerful example of documentary cinema that doesn't speak for the footage but rather allows the footage to speak for itself."

When it comes to documentarians Werner Herzog is Rolls Royce and here he turns his attention to the late Timothy Treadwell, a misguided man who tired of civilisation and found a home amongst grizzly bears...except the bears didn't see him the same way. Compiled mainly from footage shot by Timothy himself, you find yourself warming to Timothy yet also saddened by how blind he's become. Tragic and unmissable

I reckon this a powerful and such a fascinating documentary! It tells the obsession and even a line insanity about bears. But actually it tells us about the huge bear ambiton from Timothy Treadwell. A great result from Herzog, it contains sadness, poetic, you can laugh too and also philosophical.
I now know the beautiful portrait of Timothy Treadwell in this ultimate nature documentary. He absolutely doesn't desevered this, it's a heartbreaking tale!
Herzog has created something unique and unforgetabble! Sublime!

Was this man insane? A line exists between the worlds of humans and wild animals that humans should not cross. This was a powerful documentary though. No one deserves the fate that befell Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend.

One of the best documentaries i have ever seen. Werner Herzog does an amazing job in directing this scary documentary. Skip this one if you're scared of bears.

I'm not quite sure whether Grizzly Man is there as a tell all story of what Timothy Treadwell 'did' for the bears he so loved or whether it is cinematic proof that nature should be left alone and treated with the upmost respect that it should be. Treadwell was obviously not totally stable and with it, this movie shows this in a straight forward manner which leaves you with little sympathy. He was messing with nature, the bears became comfortbale with human interaction and this shouldnt happen in the end he got what he wanted and what he probbaly deserved.

I know no one "asks" to be eaten by a grizzly bear, but seriously, this guy was freakin nuts. (Wait, was I supposed to say "spoiler alert"??)

A tragic yet provoking film on a man who had serious potentials even though he was not always right in the head.

One of the greater documentaries i have seen.

I've seen three documentaries this week, and this one stands out the most for me. The extremely eccentric behavior of Treadwell and the unbelievable footage of animal wildlife make this something you should see at least once. You'll want a baby fox after this, trust me.

This is a documentary, and a very poor one at that. The story itself sounds intriguing, but after as little as 5 mins in, you realize this guy was playing in "the deep end of the pool" and wasn't all there. Don't bother with this at all. Read a book about him or a short pamphlet. Either is much better.

This guy was a nut. I thought this film would be more about the poaching problem in Alaska and his attempts to stop them. Instead it was about a socially maladjusted nut.

Were you thinking, "I want to get to know someone, who's like the Tom Cruise of grizzly bears"? I know you were thinking that... well, here's your documentary!!!! It was pretty cool or whatever, the guy is a touch eccentric. Okay, thats... understating it, but whatever. Now, at least I know I need to get a baby fox.

Pretentious German fellow tells the story of an arrogant man-boy flirting with bears, in a documentary that is sometimes cringe-inducing, sometimes painful, and often unintentionally hilarious.

A documentary concerning a disturbed man. Werner Herzog is terrific, but the story only has legs for so long.

It's hard to describe amateur animal advocate Timothy Treadwell. He's like a cross between Steve Irwin (the crocodile hunter) and Richard Simmons. Grizzly Man is an engrossing documentary that chronicles Treadwell's journey from environmental activist to minor celebrity to bear food. Director Werner Herzog was bold in his approach and some of the scenes are rather grizzly (pun intended) but it makes for a fascinating story.

This doc is mesmerizing in how it portrays the man who can walk up to a grizzly bear and "bop" it on the nose playfully in the middle of the Alaskan Kodiak. However, when the film reveals that he and his girlfriend died at the hands of a Grizzly out of foolishness I simply view him as an eccentric idiot. He loved the animals and protected them, but it was arrogance that cost him a violent 6-minute death caught on audio that Herzog refused to include in the documentary. Unfortunate, but he should have seen it coming.

There could have been many ways to go with this story of Timothy Treadwell who was a naturalist that lived with bears the last 13 summers of his life, and most of those ways would have been the wrong way. Finding a right way took the brilliance of director Warren Herzog. Treadwell was a troubled man to say the very least. Herzog uses Treadwell's own footage which IS quite beautiful, but the film isn't an enviromental film, it's a character study of Treadwell himself and one of the best I've seen. I must also mention the beautiful soundtrack to this film and I highly recommend watching the special features on the session of the making of the soundtrack - I enjoyed that almost as much as the movie itself. I normally buy the DVD only for films I truly enjoyed, but I've yet to buy a documentary. This is one I'll buy and add to my collection.

An interesting documentary about Timothy Treadwell who decided to live with bears and foxes over the course of 13 summers before being eaten by a bear. I really don't know what to think of Timothy by the end of the film. I think he found peace (as much as any one can in this world) in what he was doing although he struck me as a little crazy. I felt sorry for his girlfriend although, there wasn't that much information about her.

This movie really got to me after first seeing it on the Discovery channel. I just found it fascinating how someone could become so mentally and physically involved in bears or anything else for that matter. That and how his life's work eventually became his undoing. The audio record they had on there just chilled me to the bone.
