It jumped back and forth between the past and the present way too quickly. Just when you get involved in the story, it switches again. They did use parts from all four chapters of the book, though they rushed through most of them, even with a three hour running time. Ted Danson inexplicably doesn't have a British accent, which makes me question everything I know about life. Luckily Mary Steenburgen went overboard enough on HER whiny accent to cover the both of them.
There wasn't one moment in this film that I wasn't entertained. The graphics were out of this world! I have read the story, but this movie captures the very essence of the book like no other movie has done before.
I remember seeing this film in parts on one of my local tv channels. Its quite long all together but I'd have to say that it's worth it. The movie has a great cast (Ted Danson, who would have guessed it!) and the director did put time and creativity into it. Not sure how closely it follows the original story, but I was entertained.
Such imagination! I loved every bit of it! From the story to the acting and setting .. absolutely beautiful. If you like fantasy, I advise you see this.
