Totally fucking nuts. It just goes on and on. Shooting and shooting and exploding and slow mo and on and on. I don't think I'll want to watch this one again for a long time, but it did have quite a few incredible moments.

So close to being better than The Killer. This movie has the best action, ever, period. Chow Yun-Fat is awesome, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai almost steals the show from him though. Philip Kwok is awesome as always as well.

John Woo's most violent film is hilariously exhilarating to watch. Truly poetic action with his trademark sentimentality. Chow Yun-Fat nails his cheesy over-the-top performance. Just don't expect realism; instead enjoy the anarchic and explosive set pieces.

I like action films...but a high kill count does not automatically mean a good movie. This film has plenty of action and kills, but the quality isn't anything amazing and after a while it gets repeatative. The movie is long winded with an average story. Chow Yun-Fat puts forward a good acting effort though. An average action film that falls short of high expectations.

Complete chaos. Wonderful non-stop action sequences. Chow Yun-Fat is excellent as the tough cop, and John Woo has never been better behind the camera

One of the best action movies ever made. John Woo gives us the apex of gun play and explosion sequences, With a body count exceeding 300 people, don't expect anything less.

One of the greatest action movies ever made. Stylish, pulse-pounding, unstoppable and unforgettable. Director, John Woo's action masterpiece. A bullet riddled classic. The action sequences are spectacular. The action is explosive, wild and energetic. Chow Yun-fat is one of the greatestist action movie hero's of all time. He plays with bullets as if they were candy. Tony Leung gives a breakout performance. An awsome adreniline rush. A great story.

Awesome movie!!! I have loved John Woo after I saw Face/Off and have been tracking down his films ever since. While I'm not saying this is better than Face/Off (which is one of THE best action movies ever made) but John's asian films are on average much better than his american ones from what I have seen, so I am looking forward to seeing more of his film where he collaborated with Chow Yun Fat.

Stylish early action film from John Woo. The plot/acting was nothing special, but the action was just intense, I think the number of deaths would rival Rambo/Commando. The only downside was the length as without a good plot there's only so many killings one can take for 2 hours. Nevertheless this is a solid action film that beats a most of the garbage that was made in the 90's.

There's enough artillery of hand-guns to supply an army in this movie, in fact that's very much what happened. Though the plot was a tiny bit hard to follow at first (mostly because of the Chinese) but after you stop worrying about that, the movie becomes gravy, with some of John Woo's trademark battles. However, he took it a little too far in the last 20 minutes, the fight scene lasted way too long and the sequences became repetitive. However, Chow Yun-fat was great in his role, in fact it's probably one of the roles that got him famous, coming from John Woo. Definitely a great action flick for the weekend.

Plot? We don't need no stinking plot! We want balls-to-the-walls action, and Hard Boiled certainly delivers.

There are not action movies that can touch this classic. From the master director John Woo comes an action epic movie of its time that 2/3 of the film duration is nothing but well-choreographed action pack sequence with a well written plot and full of action and suspense this good.

In Hong Kong of the 1990s, illegal guns trading are a huge problem. Enter Detective Tequila ? a one man army cop that doesn?t waste any bullets when he?s in a gun fight. When Tequila meets Tony, he realizes there is more than meets the eye of who is cop and who is robber in one of the best finale action scene ever.

It?s hard to find an action movie with a solid story that you will you get yourself immerse in and a serious subject that isn?t cliché and stupid. Hard-Boiled deals with one of the serious subjects in history of gun trading and smuggling, the secrecy of who is a real undercover cop and who is not and violence where innocent bystanders get killed. With a story like this, all it takes is whether the action sequence can pull it off. Of course, John Woo done it so well that I enjoy every moment of it with such cinematography and choreograph scene by scene to this day it?s unbeatable when it comes to gun fight.

Chow Yun Fatt, a favorite of John Woo is a real catch as an action hero. Tony Leung is another great performer displaying his acting in yet another level of acting you won?t be disappointed. Watching these two actors brings a lot of presence to this film that brings out their characters more fiction than life in many ways you can?t expect.

If you are an action junkie, trust me. Hard-Boiled has everything you need. Intense excitement, great plot and great performances all around. This is one of the best John Woo films you will watch as many times as you want.

this film is like the japanese version of Shoot 'Em Up but has a better story. Chow Yun Fat does a very good performance and alot of the fighting and gun shootouts are very good. Escpecially the 30 minute hospital shootout!

I think the one thing I dislike about the film is the rapid quick-cut editing during the action sequences contrasting the slow paced, off-beat storyline. Also, the amount of deaths becomes just as numbingly accepting as the amount of gunfire and explosions that it's no longer about the story as it is about the ballet of bullets.

This movie is a ballad of guns, blood, violence, bullets.

It is a poetic tribute to the death of humans and proves how video games are badass pieces of art.

Probably one of the action films this side of the galaxy hands down.

What would happen if John Woo directed Die Hard meets Lethal Weapon starring Chow Yun-Fat? Was that a squeal of ecstasy? Yes it was. This should be required viewing for all males. The kill count gets into Rambo proportions.

Intense violence that is desired in this action-packed police extravaganza. Clever and well-performed; Tony Leung and Yun-Fat are too cool for words.

When John Woo used to be the best action director around, before turning into a parody of his former self. Some of the most wild and creative shootouts filmed in the history of the genre. Chow Yun Fat defines bad-assness, Tony Leung gives a great performance and Anthony Wong and Philip Kwok are the type of villians to root for. Many have tried to replicate what Woo accomplished with the action scenes, and to date, nobody has even come close to produce the same effect.

This must be what Michael Davis had in mind when he made Shoot 'em Up. Chow Yun-Fat is tough as a nail.

I Don't care what others think, this is an action fans wet dream right here (lol nice phrasing huh)

John Woo's swan song to his hong kong fans before he left to work in America (& went downhill from there) all i can say is what a way to go lol

the opening shootout alone is worth the price of the dvd (its even better than most u.s. made action film finales lol) but its the final 40 min hospital standoff that goes down in history as "the greatest action scene ever put to celluloid" (john Stratton, - the sunday herald)

all i hear these days is how tequila never reloads once...BLAH BLAH BLAH! its a movie dude! you want realism, go watch the news or something & let us real movie fans suspend our disbelief & enjoy it dammit! :)

IN A WRAP: Heaven will definitely have this playing all day if there is such a thing :)

Very disappointed with this film because I feel I missed something. From all the reviews I've read I was sure I'd really like it, but to me it just seemed like a record attempt for the world's longest gun fight in cinema history
