Although some of the special effects and dialogue were a bit cheesy, this still remains one of my favorite movies, due to its influence of the post-apoc genre.
Damn that woman can scream, I actually was hoping she'd get killed. Whatever, very cool post-apocalyptic flick even if the plot leaves you thinking WTF. Crazy death bot - check, annoying screaming woman - check, crazy dope drugs - check, and lots of random metal crap everywhere - big check.
Desert style, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk horror that one will either love or hate. A former soldier salvaging for scrap brings the head of a robot to his girlfriend to use in her scrap metal sculptures. The gesture is enough to get him through the door and into her bed when we find the robot head is actually an experimental battle robot from a failed "population-control" project.
Hilarity ensues as blood, guts, spit and ass paint the walls in a washed-out-color world. Though at times it becomes a bit tedious and seems to offer no more than visuals, Hardware is still worthy enough for any fans of cyberpunk.
Okay, so it's got First Film worn on its sleeve and it was made for a shoestring. It's still one of the coolest sci-fi post-apocalyptic robot stories/movies I've ever seen! :D
A British made, low budget sci-fi horror that works extremely well.
A tale about an experimental goverment robot that reactivates and re-builds itself with murderous consequences.
Following hot on the heels of the Terminator 2 helped this movie do well at the box office even though it bears no resemblance to that film.
Like a lot of 'cult' films of its type it does rely on being visually stylish but still has a decent story to back it up.
A nice aside to this film is that when the film makers asked Lemmy to be in it they thought he would ask for too much money, but he said 6 bottles of Jack Daniels and 200 Marlboro would be suffice, rock 'n' roll!
Priceless!
I don't understand people who didn't think this movie ruled. May not have been 100% original, but it inspired many films and I think it had a signifigant part in shaping the genre. Ahead of its time, raw, quotable, and cult.
Here is a film that needs to be more recognized. A classic 1990 post-apocalyptic science fiction film that has a great story, great cast and a great soundtrack. "Hardware" has rock stars like Iggy Pop, Lemmy Kilmister of "Motorhead" and Carl McCoy of the band "Fields of the Nephilim" appear in this film.
Hard to find.I seen this when I was a kid and I remember it being disturbing. I hardly remember the story but the singer of Feilds Of Nephilim acts in it. SOOOOO YES!!!!
