The "buddy" road movie chemistry of Harold and Kumar, single-handedly revived the stoner comedy genre at the turn of the millennium, however stoner comedies are a kind of comedy film featuring qualities that can range from gut busting and unique, to "Freddy Got Fingered". However this one feature some extremely likable and refreshingly hilarious hero's who sideline the expected racial stereotype humour by giving them a witty and clever character twist, whilst understanding who it's audience is, and offering gross out, in your face laugh out loud humour. It combines raunch, sweet overtones and witty dialogue chopped full of laughs held nicely together by energetic performances from the leads. My only criticism is that many film fans will go and watch "White Castle" with no plausible intention of being baked in the process. That said as somebody who saw this equipped with nothing more than a small soft drink and a bag of popcorn I found enough laughs in it, I can only imagine how hilarious this must be if you're on weed simultaneously. But for me, I see it as easygoing, ridiculous, emotionally engaging fun with enough high and low brow moments to satisfy those who appreciate how good modern comedies can actually be if they bothered to try. After all if it weren't for the outstanding success of Harold and Kumar we wouldn't have stoner comedies like Seth MacFarlanes overly embraced "Ted" and David Gordon Green's Pineapple Express. The best compliment you can give the film is that it's a stoner comedy masterpiece, and it is.

  A semi-offensive flick that doesn't take itself seriously... like at all. I'm one of the few people that have seen the 3rd installment before watching the classic "White Castle" iteration so I see how the roots started it all, and frankly, "White Castle" is a dumbed down version of "Christmas 3-D". Yeah, it's "kind of" entertaining, but it's rarely and it's horribly made. Poster says, "From the director of 'Dude, Where's My Car?'" That's not a good way of advertising. Shot, directed, and edited horribly. Other then that, "White Castle" is somewhat of an entertaining road-movie, but if you're looking for high-laughs that split your insides, "White Castle" ain't it. It's sequel does a better job.

  Hilarious and ridiculous stoner comedy that succeeds by not only being consistently funny, but also smart, witty, and not devoid of substance. Having a Korean American and an Indian American as the heroes of a stoner comedy is refreshing. It's great to see a movie that touches on issues of identity from these viewpoints, and it's even better that it's done with humor. Even though it is one of the many movies to use the trope where the journey is more important than the destination, I'm a huge fan of those types of movies, as well as that belief in general. Even in my own life I see the journey being more important than the destination. This is a great movie that I highly reccomend. And to think, it's all about identity and perceptions of stereotypes, but it's guided by the simple premise of two stoners whose simple trip to deal with the munchies turns into an overblown madcap adventure that involves all sorts of ridiculous situations and colorful characters. That's something awesome, right there.

  The epic stoner tale of two friends who are on a mission to eat White Castle burgers. This is the plot to 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle' and while it is relatively simple, there is a lot of funny stuff that happens along the way. The humor is gross, rude, and at times vulgar, but the impeccable chemistry between the two likable leads makes everything work. The jokes are hilarious and the cameo appearances of Neil Patrick Harris is just icing on the cake.

  The fact that a writer can create an entire 90 minute story, revolving around the fact that two guys just want a burger from white castle, is already a fantastic achievement in comedy. The lowbrow puns, the frantic situations that they happen to get themselves into, the poop and fart jokes that are actually hysterical, and the genius cameos that everyone will be surprised with, are just a few reasons to love this movie. They could have had a bit more character development, but what can you really expect from a stoner comedy road trip? "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" is a new-age classic comedy that I will remember for a long time!

  HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE is a vulgar, gross stoner/road comedy that only pleases the stoned viewers who are watching it. It tells the story of (well, if you want it plain and simple, that is) an Indian-American and a Korean-American (stirring up a lot of racial issues inside and outside the film itself) who go on a journey long enough to write an epic about...but just to ingest a bunch of freaking White Castle hamburgers. I know. If you haven't seen this, you're most likely sitting there, thinking, "Really!?", and I'm nodding back, saying, "Mm-hm. Really. Two buddies go as far as they can to spend their weekend indulging cows." And that's pretty much all it is. It's ridiculous, there's nothing funny about it, and it's not worth watching.

  "Harold And Kumar" at first seems like it will be an awful American comedy, yet it is actually incredibly entertaining and very, very enjoyable. John Cho and Karl Penn go on a trip for White castle burgers after smoking cannabis and encounter many strange things along the way, as their simple journey becomes more and more difficult. The idea has been done before, but director Danny Leiner takes it and turns into something new as each new scene just makes you laugh at how ridiculously stupid yet funny it is. Both Cho and Penn play their respective stereotypical characters very well, creating the least stereotypical characters they possibly can. With the rest of the cast offering even more to this interesting and sometimes although I struggle to see how, poignant, film. A simple, old idea which has tired the public time and time before has been turned into something excellent, funny and new with "Harold and Kumar." ***' 3 & A Half Stars

A stoner comedy that has a bit of something for most people and a good chemistry between the leads. It has a few good cast cameos to. Funny enough for a watch, not sure about being a classic. Oh and over here (UK) it's called Harold and Kumar get the munchies!

  Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle has got to be one of the best stoner comedies since Halfed Baked and The Big Lebowski. What makes this film unique is that it presents a really simple story, two guys get high then they go out to find the perfect food to kill their muchies, only it turns out to be one helluva journey. This one hilarious film and is actually one of the best comedies of the last ten years. The fact that the story is so simple and it doesn't do anything spectacular makes a worthwhile watch. The film is surprisingly good and very funny. Kall Penn & John Choe are great as the title characters and the laughs are constant and the film is never boring. Sure the film is stupid, but it's also a smartly crafted ride into two the adventures two potheads that go through a stupidity filled adventure to get to White Castle.This will be a future classic of the stoner cinema genre. The film is truly funny and you will definitely laugh at the antics of an oversexed Neil Patrick Harris playing a parody of himself. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is a memorable comedy film that still remains funny with multiple viewings. A fun, humourous and crazy film about two stoner friends who try to get their perfect food. Who knew that such a simple idea for a story could work well for a film? This film is proof that a simple idea can be a very funny film. A terrific comedy and one of my favorite comedies.

Much like Dude, Where's My Car?, this knows exactly what it is and doesn't pretend to be the smartest or cutting edge comedy. It definitely has a lot of laughs and the craziness of some scenes are really memorable.

  It did have some funny moments and Cho & Penn work well together but it is let down by its lack of original humour. It?s ok but Harold and Kumar are not the new Cheech and Chong by any stretch! I guess it helps if you are smoking lots of weed!

On their way they will encounter many obstacles including a raccoon, a racist officer, and a horny Neil Patrick Harris. <center><font size=+2 face="Century Schoolbook"><b><u>REVIEW</u></b></font></center> Rollicking good fun, persuasive in its joyful high spirits even during the slow, dumb bits, and even sometimes hilarious, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is a cult classic from Danny Leiner, the director of Dude, Where's My Car?. As in that previous film, the yuks hinge on a simple premise: two mismatched buddies on a mundane quest. Granted, a search for addictive square mini-burgers is not exactly the quest for the grail, but it's where the film goes and how it gets there that distinguishes it from just another pea-brained teen sex romp. Over the course of an evening, the heroes (dryly played by John Cho and Kal Penn) escape from prison, have their car stolen by Neil Patrick Harris, who plays himself, and ride a cheetah (you read that correctly). They also encounter some organically placed celebrity cameos, such as Fred Willard, always a treat in small doses, and an unrecognizable Christopher Meloni as a tow-truck driver-cum-swinger named "Freakshow." Despite a brain-damaged subplot about the heroes' regular encounters with extreme-sports bullies (not sure what point is being made there), the pleasurable comic surprises like these keep coming regularly, layered over a surprisingly egalitarian insistence that anyone, regardless of ethnic origin, has the right to blaze up, pig out, and choose not to conform to racial stereotypes. It's a non-conformist, anti-politically correct message straight from the '70s. If you're of a certain tolerant mindset, it's a sweet relief that someone still believes it.

  Harold and Kumar is a typical stoner movie. Two stoners try to find there way to white castle because they have the munchies and on there way encounter some pretty hilarious moments. The ending is fairly predictable, they eventually get there, and everything turns out happy ever after for the lovable stoners. It's funny, but it's not a masterpeice. It's a good movie to watch when your drunk or hanging out with some friends and in a very unserious mood.

  This was much funnier than I expected it to be. It's a simple, but fun plot. Kal Penn was hiliarious, and so was most of the supporting cast. The idea is pretty lame, but for a stoner movie, it's enjoyable and worth watching multiple times.
