The much-anticipated motion picture event is the second of two full-length parts. In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here. -- (C) Warner Bros

Rafer Guzman, Newsday
Fiennes and Rickman get the actorly moments they've been building toward for so long, and the film is most fun when it sticks to mechanics: roller coaster rides, battle scenes, close calls.
-
Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post
In the 10 years since Harry's first big- screen close-up, the spell has never been broken. And we Muggles have been made better for the magic.
-
Christopher Orr, The Atlantic
It's a pleasant irony that, just as the first installments of Rowling's oeuvre were better suited to page than screen, the final installments have reversed the relationship.
-
David Denby, New Yorker
When the movie was over, a young boy sitting behind me said, "That was great!" He was satisfied, and rightly so.

Laremy Legel, Film.com
This is the way The Harry Potter saga was meant to end.

Nancy Churnin, Dallas Morning News
Fasten your seat belts. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2is an emotional roller-coaster ride.
-
R. L. Shaffer, IGN DVD
A wonderfully rich adaptation of the final book's last act, but the central focus on the three leads might leave some fans disappointed, especially those seeking a more thorough adaptation.
-
Gabe Leibowitz, Film and Felt
For the most part, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II picks up right where Part I, the franchise's shining beacon on a hill, leaves off.
-
Jonathan W. Hickman, Paste Magazine
It all ends. And to be sure, it's a fitting end for the storied franchise.
-
Katherine Monk, Vancouver Sun
Deeply moving and perfectly phrased at every turn, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 bids adieu to a little piece of history in first-class style, and a beautifully heavy heart.
-
Tracie Cooper, TV Guide's Movie Guide
For the most part, the final movie delivers the combination of emotional intensity and rousing battle sequences befitting the end of a phenomenon that evolved from an unexpectedly popular children's book series to an era unto itself.
-
Greg Maki, Star-Democrat (Easton, MD)
From any perspective-technical, emotional, storytelling-"Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is a smashing success.
-
Jordan Hiller, Bangitout.com
While swept up in the desperate search for Horcruxes, Yates allows us to feel once more as though we are very much in the middle of things, but, alas, it was a trick and a false hope, because in the end...it was, irrevocably, THE END.
-
Laurence Boyce, The Baltic Times
This is exactly what you would expect - a perfect and exciting ending for those who have been following the franchise. Those who couldn't care less probably stopped reading ages ago.
-
Rob Power, SFX Magazine
Key moments are rushed or brushed aside, in favour of keeping the focus squarely on Harry and his two besties.
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
Whether we needed to have the book divided into two parts is open to question, but we have what we have, and it's pretty darn good. (Blu-ray Combo edition)
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
It makes a fitting conclusion to a series that most of the film-going public has been following for over a decade.
-
Kam Williams, NewsBlaze
A fitting capstone on a fabled film franchise for the ages!
-
Bruce Bennett, Spectrum (St. George, Utah)
Even contrarians for whom the incredibly popular series has been an uneven road will admit that in this final stop, a team of talented filmmakers have saved their best for last.
-
Neil Pond, American Profile
An emotional, have-a-hanky-handy experience for many viewers as characters they've come to know, love and care about make their collective exit.

Ten years comes to a close in grand fashion. Two hours of stand up and cheer, break out the kleenex cries, and closure on a series of movies that captured a generation or six :) Easily the most action packed of the movies and in reality its just the final act of a very long movie. Watch part 1 before seeing part 2 just to make sure you have the set up all fresh in your heads. From Rickman to Fiennes to Carter to Smith to everyone inbetween everyone shines, not just the big names Radcliffe, Grint and Watson who once again prove that casting directors sometimes get things right. If anything the casting of the Harry Potter franchise get a lifetime achievement award. Spot on across the board. Deathly Hallows Part 2 was what we all wanted. From beginning to end we were given a ride that is for the fans of this series. If you are not, not sure whats wrong with you but move along. This is not a movie someone can just pick up and go along with, there is no emotional ties unless you have invested the time and energy into the entire series and than the payoff is magnificent. The Harry Potter films should go down in history as a masterpiece of storytelling. -

And so it is over. Ten years and over 6 billion dollars later, the most successful film franchise of all time ends. And it ends not with a bang, but a freaking nuclear explosion. Picking up where the first film left off, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 shifts into high gear and never stops, like a 130 minute adrenaline rush. One by one, plot points are resolved, leading up to a climactic battle as epic and amazing as anything in The Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars. At the centre of the film is Harry's transformation into a selfless adult. He must make the ultimate choice, and only a man as brave as Harry Potter could go through with what he must do to bring peace to the world. He's not alone, however. His army - the entire school of Hogwarts - fights alongside him. Many lose their lives in the battle, and the film is not afraid to show the dire consequences of battle, or the painful repercussions of real sacrifice to achieve victory. There is no glory without pain. The greatest thing about this series has been the impeccable casting. Everyone, from Maggie Smith to Rupert Grint to Michael Gambon to Alan Rickman, put so much work into creating their respective roles that you can't imagine anyone else in them. They get the essence from the books and run with it in their own way. How audiences have responded to these actors is one of the main factors to the series' success. Every scene, every frame is expertly staged. The scenes, when edited together, create an epic scope of the world. The dialogue is written with care and attention to timing. It is powerful and weighty. Things are explained clearly, so that by the film's credits, the audience has received the closure they've been waiting a decade for. It is sad to see this series end. It has been a great joy as a film fan to await the release of a new Harry Potter film every couple of years. Having said that, these films will be around for many decades to come, and I have no doubt will stand the test of time throughout many generations. This is the kind of rare story that touches upon so many universal themes and universal characters that it becomes its own kind of enthralling. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, David Yates, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves, and everyone else involved in the making of this series should be forever proud of their achievement. -

Spellbinding finale to one of the greatest film series ever made! In this concluding chapter of the Harry Potter saga, we're invited to a showdown of truly epic proportions. Not since The Return of the King has a fantasy film been this grand and exciting. Old and new alike, even the smallest of characters gets their time to shine, as wizards, giants and all manner of magical creatures clash together in fiery engagement. And as for the deciding dual between Harry and Voldemort, let me tell you it couldn't have been any more perfect. Truth be told, I was really taken aback. I just never expected it to be this amazing. Especially not after being so let down by the previous two installments. But gone now is sigh-inducing teen angst, and back is the magic I thought to be forever lost. Emotionally omnipotent and breathtaking in the action, it's a battle of wills you won't soon forget. So as a last word to the captain of this great vessel, I just like to say the following: All is forgiven now Mr. Yates, for finally getting everything right. You started out good, became weak in the middle, but then eventually pulled out every ace in your pockets. And what a phenomenal redemption at that! -

I thought the first half of part 2 of The Deathly Hallows was brilliant. The breaking into and then escape from the volt was fantastic, the dragon they rode on is exactly how CGI should be used, I was utterly thrilled and entertained. Then it got a little bit dull again. If I had been a big fan of the books and franchise in general I would have been bitterly disappointed, maybe it's a bad adaptation, I couldn't tell you but all the Major events that happened (EG the deaths) were skipped over quite unashamedly. I also thought the conclusion, the ending millions of fans have been anticipating for over a decade was one of the biggest anti-climaxes of all time. The '19 years later' scene was also cringeworthingly bad but I guess that's more J.K. Rowling's fault rather than the film-makers. All in all not a bad film, The order of the Phoenix remains my favourite but it's OK. -

While not the best film in a series spanning ten years, part two of the final chapter of Harry Potter is a solid, satisfying close that's fittingly grandiose but also sneakily emotional at points. The plot finally gets simplified once all those silly magic items are found, and what we have is a war at the Hogwarts School of Magic between good vs. evil. The action sequences are the best in the film's series and some very dark events take place, including the deaths of many characters, some children, though too many critical deaths occur off camera. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) faces off against Voldermort (Ralph Fiennes) for the fate of the world, and after the protracted, wearisome setup of Part One, it's a relief to say that the final film moves like it's on fire. There's very little downtime and a great pull of urgency to the flick. So what if Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermoine (Emma Watson), Harry's best pals since the start, are completely forgotten and useless in the movie's final hour. The focus is all on Harry and his messianic sacrifices. Alan Rickman shines again, showing a depth of emotions not available to Snape until the character's final revelations. In fact, there needed to be more Rickman, but I can lay this same charge with every film. I wish the resolution, spanning forward 19 years, would have slowed down a bit and accept the paternal/maternal changing-of-the-guard as the emotional payoff billions of people have been waiting for. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two is a thrilling, gratifying capper to a series that, while to me was never as magical as the Potter die-hards have claimed, was, over eight movies and almost 20 hours, an enchanting franchise that stayed consistent in quality and entertainment. Here's to you, Potter. Now maybe I can finally stop hearing people badgering me about how the books were better. Nate's Grade: B+ -

It All Ends Pretty good film and end to this series. I didn't read the books or ever planned to but I think this movie ending was very good to a tremendous excellent series. I wouldn't mind seeing this series over and over again, it's so magical and intoxicating that brings me to my childhood days, love it! The final chapter begins as Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord's three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality. But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again. -

Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, John Hurt, Robbie Coltrane Director: David Yates Summary: In the second installment of the two-part conclusion to the überpopular Harry Potter series, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his best friends, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), continue their quest to vanquish the evil Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) once and for all. Just as things begin to look hopeless for the young wizards, Harry discovers a trio of magical objects that endow him with powers to rival Voldemort's formidable skills. My Thoughts: "The ending of these great films is bittersweet. It's hard to believe there isn't going to be another great film to look forward to. I have loved the films as much as I have the books. You can't really say that with many films that have been transformed from books. But it's true with this series. But what a fantastic ending it was. Part II of the Deathly Hallows was exciting, action packed, emotional, and the best film of the entire series. I loved how dark it was. By far the best acting from the three leads, especially Mr. Radcliffe. The film is fast moving and there is never a dull moment. The battle between Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix was fantastic. I love the feisty character that is Mrs. Weasley. The quirky character Neville Longbottom has become a bit of a hero in this film as well. But the scene between Severus Snape and Harry was one of the saddest and one of my favorite scene's in the film. You feel all that anger and resentment just wash away in that moment. The film was essentially everything you could have wanted and hoped for in the end. Everything in the film is at the best it has ever been including all the acting from this huge wonderful cast of actor's. Although the end is bittersweet, it was satisfying. Best series ever." -

Visually remarkable, but just missing something. Most of the emotional scenes from the book fell flat on the screen, and it felt rushed, despite the decision to split the final book into two movies. Deathly Hallows Part I did a fine job of portraying the loneliness, isolation, and hopeless of the first half of the story, Part 2 just jumps from scene to scene without making the impact that it should. There has yet to be a Potter movie that I disliked, but Deathly Hallows Part 2 was something of a disappointment for me and quite the step down from my favorite films in the series. Worth watching to see it all end, but I doubt I'll revisit this particular entry soon. -

A huge disappointment. The movie lacked style as well as substance by and large as per my anticipations. I was so eagerly waiting to watch how they put an end to the series, but little did I know that I was also awaiting that much disappointment. Except for some revelations towards the end, the movie was a total disaster. The adventures included were nowhere as exciting as the ones in the previous installments. To me, this is the worst of the Harry Potter movies. -

Second and final part of the Deathly Hollows is by far the darkest chapter in the Harry Potter franchise. After a decade, the Harry Potter franchise has ended. Ended yes, but ended on a high note. The Deathly Hollows Part 2 is a stunning, flawless epic that joins such films as Return of the Jedi and The Return of the King as a brilliant conclusion to a terrific series. The Deathly Hollows Part 2 is the darkest one of the series. The film has a melancholic tone that adds so much atmosphere to the film. Despite the fact that this is the darkest, most serious film the Harry Potter franchise, to those who's read the books, we all know it's going to end well. Despite this, this second part of the Deathly Hollows films is a stunning, action packed dazzling adventure. The cast deliver great performances, and they've really matured as actors over the years. This is a brilliant final that has everything you'd expect from a great Harry Potter film. Deathly Hollows Part 2 is a flawless final to a memorable achievement in the cinematic medium. Upon completing the film, I felt a bit depressed that the series was over. The beauty part of the Harry Potter books and films was that it let you escape and enter a new, magical world. Now that it's over, we won't get anymore adventures. Like I stated earlier, this is the darkest film of the franchise, the most melancholic and action packed. After all is said and done what it all comes down to is the duel between Voldemort and Harry, and it doesn't disappoint. The film has so many magical and memorable scenes, my one favorite is Minerva McGonagall after casting a spell she quips "I've always wanted to use that spell!" this is a brilliant film that joins a select few films as a flawless final to a great series. In summary, this franchise has cemented itself as a great franchise in cinema, and will be treasured for many years to come. Even though the magic is over, we can now revisit these timeless adventures again, and again. Deathly Hollows Part ended this series on a high note. -

I'm positive on predicting that DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART II will rack up some Academy Awards this year. Probably not for Best Picture, but certainly for Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Score (yes, for once, I enjoyed the score of Alexandre Desplat much more than those of John Williams, Patrick Doyle, and Nicholas Hooper combined). Even with two parts to make an ending, I must say: why does Harry Potter have to end so soon? The legacy remains, all right, but it feels like I just saw SORCERER'S STONE yesterday for my first time. Now, we look at the series and see that the students are so much older (ten years!); new characters have come, gone (Helena Bonham Carter's Bellatrix Lestrange, and gone with a well-said quote by char. Molly Weasley; Gary Oldman's Sirius Black); and, as we know it, the saga has evolved from a family-family series into a worldwide phenomenon. And for ending the series on a stronger, much better note than the first half, I applaud David Yates. Well done! -

The movie is a lot different than the book (and I've mentioned this at least more than once in my other reviews). This disappointed me a lot more than anything. They cut so many important parts. And some scenes lacked the excitement that a book gave me during reading. I felt the same way before (when watching previous parts). It's like they can't act or something. It's like they are deaf or don't know how to show their emotions properly. I truly think this movie doesn't deserve high rates. Yes the effects were the only entertaining part in it but being a fan of Harry Potter, I just can't accept the lameness in it. -

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the best Potter movie, and in my opinion it is the greatest fantasy film ever created, and is now my 3rd favorite film of all time. Harry, Ron, and Hermoine continue searching for Horucruxes as Voldemort becomes stronger. Voldemort has completely taken over Hogwarts and the school is trying to defend themselves, even as Snape becomes Headmaster and Dementors are everywhere in the grounds. When they discover there is a Horocrux inside the school, Harry, Ron, and Hermoine must secretly get inside the school to find it, which is trouble considering that Snape and the Dementors are searching for him. If they can find a way into Hogwarts, they will have to figure out how to defeat Voldemort once and for all. This entry of the Deathly Hallows is better than Part 1, it has everything you want in a Potter film, and not only is it the end of an era, but a huge part of my life has ended. Daniel Radcliffe is amazing, the best acting he has done in the whole series, and I felt like I could see in his eyes that he would miss the movies, and we would miss him. Rupert Grint is great with his screentime, he is emotional, and brave as he ends his role as Ron Weasley. Emma Watson truly emraces her final hours as Hermoine Granger, and I felt like we will miss her just as much as Danie and Rupert. Alan Rickman was always just good in these movies, but after this movie, I look back at the greatness of his character, the emotion, the genius, and finally the love of his character. Ralph Fiennes was the only person in the world who could've played Voldemort, and he plays it so well that I smiled at how evil he was, and how I realized that he was a pemanent part of the Potter universe. Overall I thought the acting was great, and Mathew Lewis has some of the best moments as his final hours as Neville Longbottom are a lines of genius. While J.K Rowling is truly a remarkable author, David Yates was able to show us his knowledge of this tremendous series, of how he feels the same loss we feel, and how we will forever miss the series. The plot is a genious, it brings back great moments and people from past movies and makes it feel awesome to be a Harry Potter fan, because you have waited and the moment of truth has come for all your answers, and if you have a piece of your heart in the series like I do, you will cry as the final moments of the film happen. The special effects are again, the best in the series, we are shown thing that have never been done in film history, the film was so genius in fact that I would dare to say Avatar has a run for its money, just saying, and I think its tied with Inception for me as the best special effects I have ever seen. This movie provided me with every single bit of my musical expectations, in other words they had one of the greatest scores you will ever hear, and it even brought back some of our favorite melodies from past films. The production was great, you can totally tell they went all out to make this a grand finale. 10 years ago, my mother took me to see Sorcerers Stone, I was a kid, and I instantly fell in love with the movie, then more films came out and I was a complete die hard fan of the series, then when this came out I went with my family and we loved every second of it, and when it ended, I cried and then left the theatre, but I know Harry Potter will be in my life forever, and im happy to say, that it will be in others hearts too, and to finish my review of the final and greatest chapter in the best film series of all time, I will say one final thing, Goodbye Harry Potter, we will miss you. -

Neville Longbottom: You were right, never better. I feel like I can spit fire. Ten years ago, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was released into theaters everywhere. After making almost one billion worldwide, it was clear a franchise would be spawned. Throughout the past ten years, we have been treated to seven great Potter films, and I am happy to say that the eighth is not only a wonderful treat, but the best Potter film out of them all (even surpassing Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban). In a nutshell, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 an entertaining film throughout, featuring extraordinarily powerful acting, intense and well-made action sequences, but most importantly, it has a magical and satisfying conclusion to a wonderful series. The truly epic ending of the Harry Potter series. There's no doubt that the cast delivered such a fantastic performance, delivered by their high commitments to make the finale great. Grand, breathtaking, and as magic as the story itself, every person who have followed the series, either from the beginning or just seen one of the film, must see this one. Congratulations to David Yates, who brings all the people's expectation came to live... The only disappointment is, when the film is probably at its best on the screen, the series is over. -

At last back to its best! I have to admit since the Goblet of Fire film the series for me had been on a downward trend, the 1st part of the Deathly Hallows again was long, drawn out and devoid of any real action or stand out scenes. Thankfully the final film does the whole collection justice and is a very impressive ending to on the whole a fine collection of films. It has tons of action, spells, fights, all the main characters and at last the final showdown! Easily one of the best in the series, this along with Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire are my faves. -
