A great adaption considering it was a near 600 page book. The acting was as good as ever and the film making was a lot more polished and well paced than the first two. The movies really honor the spirit of the book, including the character development and elaborate detail.

This was a lot better than the Goblet of Fire but the final fight scene was lacking a little zing.

Once again, a new director who could bring to life one of the most famous fantasy adventures of modern literature has been established in the Harry Potter series. With the atmosphere of the film growing darker and the plot becoming even more complex, Harry Potter and the Order...( read more) of the Phoenix is an extraordinary fantasy tale full of suspense and fantastic moments throughout thanks to the overall effort that David Yates applied to the film according to his own style.

The fifth year of Harry Potter at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has just begun and, although he tries to convince the wizarding world, including the Ministry of Magic, about Lord Voldemort's next return, he finds denial and rejection. However, The Order of the Phoenix, a group whose main purpose is to exterminate Voldemort, becomes aware of the situation and decides to start using several magical abilities to combat Voldemort. The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, suspects that Dumbledore is using the claims of The Dark Lord's return as an excuse to over-throw him as Minister, so a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge, is appointed by the Ministry of Magic so she can replace Dumbledore. Her strict rules and hard teachings force Harry to secretly form a group of young wizards called Dumbledore's army, while Lord Voldemort is gathering strength and a new army of his own as well. Naturally, the film received attention from the BAFTA Awards, being nominated for the categories of Best Production Design and Best Special Visual Effects.

The film has still maintained its overall dark atmosphere and keeps working adequately. I personally did not know any cinematic previous work by David Yates before this film so, as a new director to me, he had a great start. Not only did he achieve to direct the best Harry Potter installment so far, but also to live up to the usual and common global hype. The adaptation from the book may have omitted several key aspects of the novel's original plot, but I still maintain my position towards the definition of "cinematic adaptation" instead of resorting to the term "copy".

The pace of the story felt fluent and the screenplay was pretty decent, bringing several good performances from start to finish. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are back in their respective, famous roles, but the one that always stands out the most because of the acting is Daniel Radcliffe. Because children inevitably keep growing up, so has the subject matter. I'm not specifically talking about dumb portrayals of romance and broken hearts like Yates did in the sequel called Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but about majority and general reactions.

The fantasy sequences are top-notch, which inevitably implies that Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is back once more, culminating in an unforgettable fight between him and Albus Dumbledore, leaving Potter as a useless magician once more. The Order of the Phoenix actually plays its important part in the film. The special effects and (I dare to say) the cinematography deserved more recognition.

As the series that belong to my "guilty pleasures" list keeps maintaining the hype in an astonishing way, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a memorable fantasy tale that won't be easily forgotten, unlike its sequel is about to be. With a superb execution and the proper balance of emphasis to plot development and action, it is an adventure that still lives up to the hype. It is the third best Harry Potter film so far.

Really good movie. I have loved Harry since I first picked up the book at the age of 8 (yes I was reading Harry Potter at that age). But I think that there could have been a bit more action in this movie. It was really just going from scene to scene and only stoping for a moment ...( read more)at important parts. I really liked the book better this time.

I was very disapointed in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. They took out everything they should of kept in and kept in a lot they should of took out. You would never know Ron and Hermione were prefects. Also for being the longest book it was the shortest movie. It c...( read more)ould of been so much better. Its just sad how it made something great into something wrong.

Without a doubt, the best movie of the potter movie series to date. Very impressed with the directors interest in scenery and choice of soundtrack. The way that the relationships between characters has been developed is fanastic. The characters of Umbridge and Luna are not how i ...( read more)imagined them when reading the book, but the actors manage to develop them believably. The story is very similar to the book, with the parts not included in the movie being smoothed over well through alterations to characters and plot. Altogether a very well thought out and impressive movie - very entertaining

i thought the casting for the characters of luna, tonks and Umbridge were done very well... the acting was amazing in this movie...

    ********************************************************************************************
I was so happy to hear that helena would be taking over helen to play the role of bellatrix lestrange.. she is amazing doing her even tho she only had a couple of lines, she pulled it off great..
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
    *********************************************************************************************

Daniel, gives his best performance as Harry by adding further depth, anger, and vulnerability to the character.. he really is the perfect Potter..
Rupert and Emma are once again delightful and thier performaces are getting better and better and the rest of the cast are fab..

I loved the end fight between dumbledore and voldmort(amazing).. leaving a hole for the nxt hp movie..david yates did a great job.. I would certainly recommend the movie for everyone, fan or not, as it really was a well made movie

He really is out there, isn't he? We've got to be able to defend ourselves. And if Umbridge refuses to teach us how, we need someone who will.
