...a wonderfully irreverent animated film that follows an odd immigrant from birth to the final chapter in his life.

It's a rare film that is both whimsical and deeply moving. Harvie Krumpet is that kind of film.

It was well done in the gray scale. I love the narration. It's a very depressing story about Harvie, who can't have a single good thing happen to him. But it was funny.

Geoffrey Rush narrates the 20 minute claymation short from Australia about the life of Harvey Krumpet. Watching someone endure bad luck throughout their entire life has never been this much fun. Highly recommended.

This Oscar winning (2003) short film is a pure delight! Harvie Krumpet has every reason to give up on life, yet he meets every setback with an indomitable optimism. Half the fun is reading the various "fakts" Harvie learns along the way, having been trained by his mother to observe and learn from an early age. Wonderful visuals and a heart felt story make this a gem.

One of the top 10 greatest animated short films ever made, Harvie Krumpet is delightfully off-beat with a children storybook feel to a story that is depressing, innovative and certainly for the more mature minds. Criminally Adam Elliot made us wait over six years for his follow-up Mary and Max (though the wait was well worth it). An admittedly gay Australian juggernaut of creativity and uncompromising ideals, Adam is never afraid to take his claymation characters to dark places but is so lovingly affectionate of them that he always guides them to a place of peace. I cannot recommend this film more highly. Please watch it and fall in love with Harvie Krumpet then immediately check out the Mary and Max.

While not as masterful, touching, or funny as "Mary and Max", Adam Elliot's "Harvie Krumpet" is a short film that would have made me want more of his flamboyant oddity. "Harvie Krumpet" manages to teach a solid life lesson-be it familiar-while incorporating a wacky sense of humor into the mix. The stop-motion is good for a first effort, and the story it tells sort of comes out short, sweet, and to the point. And that's what I love about it. Touching, depressing, although undeniably charming and hilarious; "Harvie Krumpet" is a definite must-see for the animation crowd, whether you find the film's daring ambitions to be a selling point or not. Either way, Adam Elliot has something going for him whenever he plans to make something new. I imagine that stop-motion will be his filmmaking life, and I'm OK with that. By all means, I support the man in his quest for furthermore perfection.

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, some have greatness thrust upon them .....and then there are others" ...
Quirky humorous gentle twenty minute claymation about the trials and tribulations of being Harvie Krumpet. I should have loved this to pieces, but somehow didn't, even though it won an Academy award and everything.
Anyway, you can judge for youself here..
