decent documentary style noir with annoying voiceover narration. ends with a cool chase through the sewers of l.a. pre-dragnet jack webb looks goofy.

An early police procedural that was the template for Dragnet. Although this picture is said to be directed by Alfred Werkler it's actually a early directorial project by Anthony Mann.
Worth seeing just for the final chase through the sewers of LA -

I saw this a few years ago, but remember not being too impressed. It seemed like a precursor to today's CSI bombardment and even before that, Dragnet. And I'm sure this is no coincidence seeing as how it starred an oddly young Jack Webb. The direction was great, as was the final ...( read more)

Somewhat cold, narrated, police procedural of and exceptionally cold killer (who is nice to his dog). Some nice visual and interesting moments (a particularly bizarre encounter for an uncover man), and an inspired , cinenamtic sewer chase that just pre-dates The Third Man

The narrator gets really annoying in this movie because his lines are badly written. There are some good moments like the scene in the sewers but there are numerous better Film Noirs out there to watch.
