Now this is my type of teen flick.

This is another 80's classic I've only just caught up with. It has its moments but i think my 14 year old self would have appreciated it more. It seems a bit eerie watching it now really, what with all the shootings etc in American schools over the last few years. Also, are Ameri...( read more)can schools so segregated and do they really have girl clicks/sororities like that? or is it another myth like cow tipping? Christian Slater seems to have started his 'I want to be Jack Nicholson' campaign right here too!

How I got this far in life with out seeing Heathers is a mystery to me. I enjoyed it, but not as much as my 16 year old self would have.

Also totally weak ending. They needed to fully commit if this was to be "the High School film Kubrick made."

Fuck me gently with a chain saw.

I have seen this film awhile ago and I liked it!. . . It was a stand out from the usual 1980's high school films.

Can't believe I missed this movie out when I was growing up. It's definitely up there as one of the best 80's teen movies with the sparkling duo of Winona Ryder and Christian Slater teaming up to bump off some obnoxious students to make it look like suicide until JD (Slater) star...( read more)ts planning something far bigger with Veronica (Ryder) knowing that things are now way over her head and has to stop it. It's veers a bit off course during the final act which is a shame as it was so solid before then. Not sure if this is a black comedy or a straight forward drama. A brilliant story nevertheless and hugely entertaining.

Very funny, very dark, very biting. It is truly one of those classic teenage 80s movies, except this one is more self-aware and probably funnier because of it. (I still vastly prefer The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller, though, gotta say.)

When I watch films from other decades (especially the 80's) I put myself back in that time. You can't really let the hair and clothing styles of that particular era influence your decision/critique of the film. I say this because 'Heathers' is now an especially dated film since...( read more) it came out in the late 80's. And it shows. But with all that said, this was still a great film. Very risque plot lines for a mainstream Hollywood film, but it worked! Slater, Ryder, and Doherty were excellent in their respective roles. The plot was very well constructed with it's commentary on social culture including high school way of thinking. Clever dialogue as well. Very well done film. But in need of a remake eventually, but of course it would have to be as good as this original.
