Ok yes even the cheesy zombie horror deserve a review. I have this film under a different name but still uncut. I have Zombie Creeping Flesh which is what this film was called in UK (why it was called that I'll never know) but since this one was banned many years ago, I had to track it down. The original version i watched was an old vhs cut copy which was ok. Then them loving artists Vipco and the BBFC granted this film to be released UNCUT. I immediatly got the copy on dvd and I must say I enjoyed it. Plenty here for the gorehounds and when I say plenty I MEAN plenty.

Yes I know it's cheesy but most horror from Italy was in the day of the 70's/80's but it does have a redeeming feature: THE GORE. personally I can't understand why this film was labelled a video nasty. Yes the acting is cheesy and yes one of the characters starts to look like a patient at a mental hospital but hey what did you expect from a italian horror (and don't say Fulci)
Zombie Creeping Flesh isn't a throwaway movie, no far from it. I feel that this film deserves much more consideration for it. For zombie fans it's one of the best cheesy zombie horrors outthere and it even puts to shame most pretenders that are on the market nowadays. the plot is simple a muck up at a factory sends chemicals in the air that turn anyone into a flesh hungry zombie (resident evil the movie take note) and I mean a PROPER flesh eating zombie. A SWAT team try to bunk off work and escape to an island but like most stupid italian flicks they wander right into the middle of the zombie crisis.
Like I said the flesh eating is on screen quite a bit of the time. Thats why I like this film the most because of the gore. Yes the soundtrack does borrow from Dawn of the Dead thats because Goblin did both the soundtrack for Dawn and Zombie Creeping flesh. There is even a piece of music from Contamination (another good italian horror movie) during the opening credits. However people found this a rip-off, I found the music added to the eerieness of the movie. No this film will not be winning any awards (apart from the Razzies) but that don't matter. Stop slagging off the film and just enjoy it for what it is pure adult blood n guts gorefest cheesy horror.

Above average Italian zombie flick that has been unfairly slagged for using the score from DAWN OF THE DEAD. It's actually a lot better than most such movies, with some unexpectedly creepy moments and awesome gore. Unquestionably a second tier zombie flick but far better than say, BURIAL GROUND.

AKA Zombie Creeping Flesh, Virus, Cannibal Virus, Night of the Zombies, Zombie Inferno, Zombies of the Savanna, Inferno dei morti-viventi, & Zombi 2: Ultimate Nightmare.

A team of four commandos go to New Guinea to investigate a chemical leak at a research factory. They run into a reporter named Lia & her camera man Max...after both are nearly devoured by the living dead.

This movie is bad. Really bad. But is it bad in a good kind of way? Yes. Some hate this movie. As with most really bad zombie movies, I loved it. Filled to the brim with cheese, bad acting, bad dubbing, stock footage of animals running & jumping as well as stock footage of tribal people dancing, zombies getting shot anywhere but the head then finally the head, & gore gore gore. 102 minutes of pure schlock & I wouldn't have it any other way. It also ripped off Dawn of the Dead in numerous ways, which I'll get to in a bit.

Highlights include: a rat attacking a man & killing him while his partner watches & does nothing, Lia getting naked & wearing tribal pant to go amongst the tribe, Max looking like Yanni, a kid zombie devouring his father in a Land Rover, one of the commando members putting on a tutu & dancing before getting eaten by zombies, another commando running into crowds of zombies..taunting them & living to tell about it...until the film draws to the end, a tongue-rip followed by the hand going into the mouth & poking the eyes out, zombie tribe members attacking the living tribe members, a hilarious looking zombie priest(look at his facial expression), & a cat bursting out of an old lady zombie while she plays dead in a rocking chair. So look out for all of the above & then some!

Hell of the Living Dead rips off Dawn of the Dead a good bit. You'll notice some Goblin tracks from Dawn of the Dead in this movie. Also, there's a raid featuring a the commandos. They're dressed in attire similar to that of Roger & Peter from Dawn of the Dead. It's pretty evident & Hell of the Living Dead doesn't try to hide it.

There is a lot of random stock footage that adds to the laughter factor of the movie. Monkeys jumping in trees, animals running, animals attacking other animals, tribal dances, etc. It'll just make you laugh even more.

This film is violent & the gore is over the type. Not the goriest movie I've ever seen but still quite gory. Gorehounds and/or people who enjoy shitty movies will love this.

Directed by Bruno Mattei. Claudio Fragasso was one of the writers on this so you know this is a turd spray-painted gold immediately. Fragasso= quality!

Check it out! I picked up a double feature DVD with this movie plus Rats, another Mattei movie. It was under $10 brand new on the Amazon marketplace. Well worth it. Mattei is credited as Vincent Dawn on both films.

Bruno Mattei really shines here, and, of course, when Bruno Mattei shines, it means that the movie is hilariously incompetent and ridiculous crap that is the nie-on definition of "so bad it's good." Hell, it doesn't even seem like Mattei is trying here. The obvious comic relief (I forget his name, but names aren't really important) in a movie already hilarious in its own premise is insanely effective, and the excess and cheesy gore and terrible acting really seals the deal. Perhaps the lone setback (other than being horrible, but great in its own right) is the length, as the film gets a bit cumbersome toward the end. Other than that, it remains a wonderful zombie-sploitation flick for B-lovers, but Massacre in Dinosaur Valley will always remain the iconic great-bad film of all-time.

I've sat through my fair share of cheap and cheerful zombie movies, but this one was so dull that it was literally a pain to sit through. Boring, boring, boring...
