This movie certainly have a different meaning since Wall-E has been out, but it doesn't kept myself away of it to fully appreciate it. Surely, it add nothing to the genre, but actually it,s so entertaining, so funny, with a good rythm, ncredible performance, an outstanding Streisand and so much joy and happiness and everything that this movie beyond a real classic of the musical genre. Truly and fully enjoyable!
SO fantastic. I loved this movie. Now I totally get why gay men love Barbra Streisand. She gave me goose bumps in this movie. 'I'm not gonna let the parade pass me byyyyyy!"
Barbra Streisand couldn't have seemed more perfect for the role of Dolly if she tried, she carried the part of with ease and style in a way I could never imagine anyone coming close too.
With a lot of laughing, and a lot of musical numbers you will be singing for weeks this film is a hit for any fan of the musical genre.
Also worth a watching in my biased opinion for the incredibly talanted and lovely Michael Crawford.
Hello Dolly is a great movie...the songs are catchy and the dancing is incredible. Some of the numbers are too long and overdone, perhaps, but it does not detract too much from the overall feel of the movie. My favorite character is Barnaby, played by Danny Lockin. It's hard not to notice his incredible athletic dancing and energy! Unbelievable!
Different, yet again Barbra is awesome. I LOVE Barbra's whole personna in this--she is hilarious as usual. Great musical numbers. A little slow in spots or it would have been 5 stars. DVD.
A real 1960's period piece that could not be adapted for film because of the source material. Like the recent release "The Producers", over-the-top musicals are something you have to love and are an acquired taste, like good scotch.
I always found this one entertaining, who can resist Barbra Streidsand in this? I love the music, pretty good supporting cast, too. Even Matthau works.
This was a drawn out affair, and was really painful to watch when Walter Matthau bursts out singing. If you're looking for the glory days of Singing in The Rain or An American In Paris, then don't watch this movie. Go watch High Society instead...
But Barbara really shows her potential in this role, where she gets to do everything that normal actors can only dream of, and she fulfills all expectations by exceeding them grandly, so most of us don't forget her when we've turned of the television ;)
Typical women... always trying to influence every decision everyone around her makes for what is commonly know as "the greater good". Back to the movie... amazing sets for it's age and great to be able to watch a musical and associate with it.
A classic... I'm not familiar with the musical. Hopefully I love like I do "Singin' in the Rain," and don't hate it, or am at least not bored by it, like I do/am by others...
Barbra Streisand escaped from the zoo to film this mediocre musical. Her handlers nearly died of fright during her dance routine with Louis Armstrong. Walter Matthau plays a good crank, as always. The comedy tends to fall flat on its face, but plenty of bouffant hairdos and colorful hats brighten the atmosphere.
Mr Musical comes out and directs one of his own.. Gene Kelly does a great job and with Walter Matthau in not his best performance teams withh Streisand to create something magical
I just love this show. It's one of the great musical classics and it has Louie Armstrong to boot. The acting is decent, the songs and dancing are great and I got to do the show over a hundred times. It's just wonderful.
