Plot: An investigative reporter must send the newly unbound Pinhead and his legions back to Hell.
Decent second sequel to the iconic horror series. In this one, Pinhead is unleashed on the Earth through a statue type thing that a sleazy nightclub owner buys as a centre piece for his room. The key to Pinhead's escape is through the bodies of victims that get sucked into the statue and feeding him the flesh and blood he needs to fully enter Earth and it's the job of a local reporter to use the special box that Pinhead and the cenobites escaped from to send them back to hell. This has some cool gory moments and the story and script isn't that bad, despite the odd cheesey line but thats expected. The main let down would be the random appearance of the ghost of the man who later became pinhead, all we know is that he fought with the reporters dead dad in the war but there's no real explanation as to why he's there or how he got there, unless i missed something.Other than that, not as good as the first two but still good.
This is my favorite of the Hellraisers so far (I'm through 4:Bloodline) because I am most pleased with this script and story. But it seems I had to forsake a bit of gore and effects quality in return for the improved editing and script. The cinematography is less cheeky, has some great moments of simple camera and lighting montage achievements, nothing else in fx needed but for Pinhead's costume and makeup. Actually the more I think on it, I take back what I said about the effects. There are a few shots repeated from the second movie, which those are shit, but the bar massacre, trench of dead soldiers, and Pinhead scuplture in this one are all awesome feats of the production crew/art department. I LOVE the army of Cenobites, though I can see how one might get sentimental about The Chatterer's absence.
The Hollywood Hellraiser --> big-budget visuals but feels like a movie. Decent story...disappointing acting. In summary: it's very entertaining and that's it.
pinhead is awesome. the film has great lines and gore. i liked the gory club scenedoug bradley really brings life into this film
A bit of a convulted story behind this franchise .. and you do have to pay attention to know whats going on . Cliver Barker is a strange strange man indeed . Do see the first 2 if your going to watch the 3rd... and settle in for some messy bloody gorey graphics .. =D
I loved this dam movie! the blood and gore were soo much better then the 1 & 2.
The nightclub scene was kick azz! even more so when the reporter walked through the nightclub ravaged with death! I can't wait till I get some free time to watch the rest of the series
Ok the first was the most original and the best. The second was the most out there, still the third has to be the most fun. The franchise turned into 'The Pinhead show' from here onwards. This happened with the elm street series, and the third hellraiser turned pinhead into the horror icon that he is today. This film has the best lines, by the man himself, and for the horror freaks, over the top acting and gory. "Save your tears. I'll reap your sorrow slowly. I have centuries to discover the things that make you whimper". Great gruesome fun.
Most would probably cite this as the point the Hellraiser franchise began its downward turn, as Clive Barker's creepy aesthetic was largely discarded in order to refashion Doug Bradley's Pinhead into more of your standard, wise-cracking slasher/villain. Still, on its own schlocky terms, this gory third installment proves quite the entertaining little crapfest.
The Hellraiser sequels were decent but they all gelled together and you can't tell one from the other although this one did have Terry Farrell.
I actually liked this one better than the second. I still remember the gory club scene like it was yesterday & I haven't watched in years!
Not quite as good as the first, and I'm pissed that they changed Pinhead's voice, but its watchable atleast.
For some odd reason I am a fan of the Hellraiser series. This one was the one that messed with my mind the most. But I'd watch it again.
The weak link of the series, this film has nothing of the tension and intriguing characterizations, which made the original such a hit. The cenobites are cheap, overrepresented slashers and the gore isn't a shade of the original, morbid art. The plot is just plain silly and the whole thing is badly written.
Pinhead is back. He collected enough blood to return and take revenge on humanity. With his chains he kills A LOT of people in a very cruel scene. Only a reporter called Joey can stop him. I enjoyed every minute of "Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth". It still isn't a fantastic film, but it's really still quite intelligent and entertaining. In my opinion it's better than "Hellbound: Hellraiser II', although I'd love to see the same cenobites, not new lame cenobites. We can see Doug Bradley as Pinhead, but also without make-up as Joey's guide. Almost as brutal and violent as "Hellbound", and probably a little better. However, I gave them the same rating. The first "Hellraiser" was shocking, but the follow-ups "Hellbound" and "Hell On Earth" really are even more bloody films. The end-credits are backed by the song 'Hellraiser' by the heavy metal band Motorhead, but it was originally performed by Ozzy Osbourne. Recommended for horror addicts. Like every Hellraiser film: you either love it, or you hate it. I can recommend every Hellraiser film, except 'Hellraiser IV: Bloodline', because that's one of the worst films I've ever seen
i saw one of these movies but i'm not sure about which. it doesnt matter though because they're all the same.
A very poorly thought out movie. The villains were so uncreative in this one and the woman was not at all a good actress. All though it does give us some look into Hellraiser as a human, but in a way, that kinda killed his evilness credibility.
for the true version of hellraiser 3 buy the 4 disc boxset from the uk as it has all 3 movies, hellrasier 3 is full restored in the directors cut form only from the uk, it also has dts
Say what you want about sequels - I really liked this one. It was right up there with the first two. It ran with the concept of the box in it's own direction. It is something new and fresh to enjoy.
