The usual fun Bava fare. This time he sends Hercules to Hades (or Hell for those of you who've never read Bulfinch's Mythology) to save the woman he loves. One of Bava's more impressive features from a style standpoint with the lighting and camera tricks, even if the story is som...( read more)ething you've seen before. Christopher Lee is the villain and the last ten minutes are creepy and amazing all at the same time. Hercules in the Haunted World also shows Bava's influence on future filmmakers such as Sam Raimi and Don Coscarelli. The Comic Relief Guy was too much, but overall this one's worth the time.

A pretty typical sword and sandal (or peplum if you wish) but done with striking colours that add a more fantastical feeling to the picture. The Underworld and climatic battle scenes are lit with mucho gusto (making it more horror-like atmosphere).

Although Reg Park is no O...( read more)livier, he is a fitting actor to be Hercules (strong, not too quick but clever too). Christopher Lee is especially perfect as the treacherous tyrant. One can see why Bava directed him again.

This was Bava's first official directorial picture done in colour. And he was off to a very good start.

Yeah it's the classic peplum from Italy and with an evil touch from Mr. Bava and Christopher Lee. It's A-movie for me. Never discuss it with
Ugly...he should cut off your ...hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Iam not too big on the whole Sword and Sandle films. But Bava and Lees name brought me to this film. Its one of the most magically stunning films, visually. The story was fun enough also to keep my attention. The acting is hammy but who the hell cares with the visual orgasm this ...( read more)film gives. Bava fans take note....its one of his best in the visuals dept.

I haven't finished watching this yet because it's so old and cheezy looking; it's funny but still boring.
