A typical fun comedy from the early 90's. Good fun!

An insignificant man becomes a hero, but then another man takes all the credit. This is a very interesting movie.

This movie annoyed the hell out of me.

Movie about a man who rescues passengers from a plane.

Hero is pure Hollywood, and is the very best of what Hollywood means, or meant at the time. The plot is clever, the writing is witty, the characters are interesting, and the acting is decent (Dustin Hoffman is great). The development is not meant to expose new subtleties of human...( read more) emotion, but rather strongly to evoke obvious ones -- in this case, pride. In other words, it is meant to make you happy. That is not to say that the audience is barraged with heavy-handed judgments, merely that it does not require a degree in theater to like the film. It is interesting enough to be enjoyable after several viewings, but not subtle enough to require serious study.

Hero is perfect for the intelligent moviegoer who wants to watch a film for fun, and that is the context in which it should be understood. Personally I find this a very good satire, that has actually a good point. In their search for sensational, touching news, TV stations will do really everything and seem to forget that the most important thing is still reality. If you are looking for a good comedy, with some fine acting and a good story, than this movie is really something you should try.

It is not as serious as P.Weir's Fearless, 1993. I admit that S. Frears is very good film director.

Dustin Hoffman as a brilliant, complex and witty chracter who saves a plane load of people begrungently; he's not a nice guy and a crook and before anyone knows that he is the hero Andy Garcia come along and steals his limelight. Garcia leads the whole country on and especillay a...( read more) tv reporter who he 'rescued' offf the plane; which is played by Geena Davis.

Its such a clever and funny film with Hoffmans little outbursts and speeches and a surreal plot and outcome overall.

    A great film, simple as.

Its an ok movie, pretty enjoyable!
Its funny but not what you call laugh out loud funny!
I like this movie as it is quite amusing and its a great cast and the storyline is ok but its just a bit predictable and can get annoying in places as its that sort of typical movie where ...( read more)you've cried wolf too many times no one believes you and then everyone and everything is then getting in the way of things, so it can get irritating but apart from that its worth a watch even if you only watch it the once.
Dustin Hoffman plays a man who isnt your typical hero and is only concerned about himself but when a plane crashes down in front of him he finds himself becoming an international hero and loved by eeveryone.... the onlky problem is some hobbo has taken the claim for something Hoffman has done! so throughout this movie we find out how hoffman wins his money back and becomes the hero!!

This isn;t a bad film, quite a good script with humourous one liners from Dustin Hoffman, great cast but nothing special and rather forgettable.

has its good moments but sadly watching back now it has that old cliche ridden late eighties feel that doesnt bring back a sense of nostalgia more relief than movies have developed where modern premises such as this can be tackled with richer context than run of the mill rudiment...( read more)ary gags and narrow shallow characters
