Ginnifer Goodwin stars as Gigi, a young woman attempting to understand the mixed signals she gets from the men she's dating. She gets advice from a bar owner (Justin Long) who prides himself on understanding the ins and outs of the dating scene. Gigi's co-worker Janine (Jennifer Connelly) finds herself involved in a major redecorating project with her husband, Ben (Bradley Cooper). Unbeknownst to Janine, Ben contemplates an affair with Anna (Scarlett Johansson), an attractive woman trying to make a career as a singer. Another of Gigi's friends at work, Beth (Jennifer Aniston), enjoys a successful, healthy relationship with Neil (Ben Affleck), but storm clouds hover over them as he has no interest in getting married. Kris Kristofferson co-stars as Beth's father. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Mary F. Pols, TIME Magazine
He's Just Not That Into You is like reliving your 20s, without any of the fun.
-
Ben Mankiewicz, At the Movies
I thought there was a level of sophistication in the relationships that I certainly did not expect.
-
Ben Lyons, At the Movies
The movie gets smothered by one romantic comedy cliché after another.
-
Joe Baltake, Passionate Moviegoer
'He's Just Not That Into You' - a RomCom, yes, but also a pretty good film
-
Peter Rainer, Christian Science Monitor
This is a movie for people who can't get enough of Sex and the City and are willing to settle for clones.
-
Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times
Like that's a problem for Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly and the rest of these people.
-
Joshua Starnes, ComingSoon.net
Your men folk will be bored out of their minds but you've dragged them to worse. It tries hard anyway. And since the whole thing is about advice on men let me give some; never take relationship advice from Candace Bushnell.
-
William Goss, Cinematical
He's Just Not That Into You wishes it were Love, Actually crossed with The Break-Up, but it plays more like a horror movie for the WASP set.
-
S. Jhoanna Robledo, Common Sense Media
Appealing but unsurprising romcom dispenses familiar wisdom.
-
Clay Cane, BET.com
Works as an hour episode of Oprah or a thirty-minute episode of Sex and the City, but as a full length movie -- I'm just not that into it.
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
The movie plays like a television sitcom without the laugh track (and without the laughs).
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
Everyone pitches in, but it isn't enough to rescue a tedious, fragmented, scattershot script.

A how-to happy ending training manual for aspiring female objects of desire, while movies about men have to do with the really big challenges they face, like beating up alien invaders or saving the planet. Doormat duty alert: She's Just Not That Onto You.

Sorry, I'm just not that into The Love Boat.

Mike McGranaghan, Aisle Seat
Despite some definite tendencies toward the formulaic, He's Just Not That Into You actually has half a brain in its head.

Karina Montgomery, Cinerina
It's really a relationship comedy more than a romantic comedy, since a lot of the film is concerned with demonstrating when one should walk away, rather than when to lean in for the kiss and cleave.

People often do stupid things for love. That doesn't mean it's worth making a movie about these acts of folly.

Wow, Ginnifer Goodwin and Scarlett Johansson really did womankind a huuuuge favour by portraying women as unstable, nervous wrecks who spend their entire lives obsessing over signals from men as opposed to, oh, say, doing work or anything. I added half a star for the more mature relationship between Ben Affleck's reliable, charming (too-good-to-be-true) Neil and goodness knows Jennifer Aniston is always a welcome presence. I have never liked Bradley Cooper in any of his roles. -

Somewhat painful, but the faux-documentary style was charming and the all-star cast did a lot to make the movie feel authentic. A few great lines in the movie, but too much space between them. I couldn't help thinking that this movie is a poor man's "Crazy Stupid Love" throughout its entirety ... which, from me, is actually high praise. Best part was that I watched and reviewed it on Flixster. Might have gotten an extra 1/2 star because of that. -

Are you the exception...or the rule? Saw it again! Great movie! I love seeing this film from time to time. Awesome cast! This sumptuous ensemble romantic comedy managed to exceed my expectations in every way. It was extremely hilarious and utterly realistic, and features an eclectic cast that all add something different to this intriguing tale of dealing with the pitfalls of dating and marriage. The acting is all pretty faultless, with Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connolly, Brendan Cooper and Justin Long displaying some of their best work. Scarlet is as stunning as ever, and plays the temptress well, but Barrymore is sadly underutilized. In total, I think she might only have 10 minutes worth of screen time, but she does use it well. In Baltimore, five women and four men try to sort out the signals that the sexes exchange. Gigi imagines every man she meets is Mr. Right; she gets reality checks from Alex, a sweet but cynical saloon keeper. Janine and Ben seem solidly married until he chats with Anna in a market checkout line; meanwhile Anna is indifferent to the pursing Connor. Neil and Beth have been together seven years; she dumps him when she realizes he really and truly isn't going to marry her. Does he love her? And Mary sells advertising while searching on line for a man. Will those in love stay in love? Will those searching figure out who is and who isn't into them? Are men all that different from women? -

When I thought about going to see this movie I wasn't sure I would like it. I mean I wanted to but online from others some said it was good and some said it wasn't worth the bother. Well, today to me, this movie proved to those who said don't bother wrong. The movie centers around three friends: Beth (Jennifer Aniston),Janine (Jennifer Connelly),Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin),and someone not part of the group of friends Anna (Scarlett Johansson). Beth is trying to deal with the fact that her boyfriend of seven years, Neil (Ben Affleck) doesn't believe in marriage, therefore, this puts her in a situation. Gigi tries to figure out why a guy won't call, which she gets help from a mans side of view Alex (Justin Long), who doesn't know everything he says he does. Janine and her husband Ben (Bradley Cooper), struggle with the difficulties that come with marriage, which becomes worse when Anna and Ben begin sleeping together. Anna's friend Connor (Kevin Connolly), is confused on why Anna won't sleep with him anymore, and someone else that works in the real estate business Mary (Drew Barrymore) just like Connor, is confused on why her myspace love Jude won't call. All in all this movie was very well put together, and to those ladies looking for a good romantic comedy this movie is for you! It's just a very good movie!!! The book is really good too. Just a really good romantic comedy. :) Love it! :) After a long time I constantly find a need to watch this movie :) :) :) :) -

Funny rom com about dating and falling in and out of love. The movie follows the lives of three female oo-workers Gigi (who is desperate and can't get any guy), Janine (who married her college boyfriend, whose husband happens to have an affair) and Anna (who has been dating the same guy for 7 years and he doesn't want to get married). You think from the title of the movie that this is a man bashing movie but quite the opposite. The men turn out well in this movie (apart from Bradley Cooper who is married to Jennifer Connelly and has an affair with Scarlett Johansson. But who wouldn't pick Scarlett?!) Anyway, the women in the movie are de-ranged, paranoid, insecure and freaky. In comparison the men are quite normal and straightforward. Good cast. I was disappointed Drew Barrymore didn't have a bigger role as she is great in rom coms. Scarlett looks amazing. Jennifer Connelly usually plays more serious roles but does well in this rom com movie. Jennifer Aniston is in her element in her stereotypical rom com role. She has a great frame but her face looks drawn and older (maybe her real love life was taking its toll at the time the movie was made). Kevin Connolly and Justin Long are nice guys in the movie. Ben Affleck's character is a gem. If you liked 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' you will like this movie too. Everyone will be able to identify with at least one of the characters. There's a mixed bag. Bradley Cooper is hot! -

A lot of sayings should be useful for people to know if he's into you or not and the ending is just turns out to be wonderful. I love this kind of movie where the actors are interconnected with each other and it probably is the best movie of its kind. -

All men are assholes and can't be trusted, all women are stupid and are a pain in the arse, this film has some of the best performances ever, is one of the best written scripts of all time and is probably one of the greatest films of all time!!! -

A fresh take on the Rom-com with plenty of drama, featuring an all star cast. It's on the same kinda level as Love actually. It features the love lives of various people that are all connected some how. Starting with those on the dating scene trying to read the signs right through to those that have been married for a few years. It's enjoyable and quite funny with a few touching moments too., I like the way all the stories are interwoven together. One of the best Rom-coms in a long while. -

Another story about a group of young people in search of love. This time around, <i>He's Just Not That Into You</i> is from the best-selling, Oprah featured book noted as a self-improvement handbook that helps people identify the cliches in relationships. Initially, the idea seems trite and rehashed... but surprisingly, this film is effective. I found it to be realistic, relatable, and enjoyable.<p> The story is told through several different story lines that are intertwined and serves as an effective narration that helps maintain interest. There's no ground-breaking performances here, but most of this all star cast did excellent jobs. I especially enjoyed the performance by the lesser known of these stars: Ginnifer Goodwin, who's character was silly but infectious. And, I'm sorry, but it's hard to take Justin Long seriously as a relationship guru. Regardless, this film is enjoyable for guys and is pretty damn accurate. Not a bad watch at all. -

I understand what He's Just Not That Into you is trying to do, and it would have been a refreshingly different movie if it would have succeeded in achieving those aims. Unfortunately, some of the stories stumble into the silly, unrealistic scenarios that the movie as a whole is preaching against. There are a lot of beautiful women in this movie, but it fails pretty hard at getting its point across. -

A predictable, pretentious, heavy-handed piece of garbage with a plot so lazy and formulaic I have no idea how it got so many talented actors involved. Despite all-around fine acting, including a spunky, energetic coming-out performance from Ginnifer Goodwin, this movie has way too many faults. The characters aren't colored at all, not giving you a real reason to care what happens to any of them, and it suffers heavily from over population from a character standpoint. Films like "(500) Days of Summer" give me hope that run of the mill disasterpieces like this won't be made too often. I can take a good chick flick, and I do like romantic/comedies, but this was just lazy, uninspired, and overall massively disappointing considering how many talented people were in this film. -

How can such a star studded movie be so boring??!!1 This movie is funny in places but fails to keep you entertained and into the movie, its fun with a fantastic cast but the storyline is annoyingly boring with some irritating characters. The movie is completely predictable that leaves nothing to the imagination. Its not really worth the effort because it has to be the most unfunny romcom ive seen in a while. Its about a group of people/women who are attractive and going through men, jennifer aniston is dating Ben afflect but has trouble in paradise when she wants to get married but he doesnt, Barrymore cant find anyone to love, Connerly has cheating husband payed by Bradley Cooper who keeps Sleeping with Scarlett Johanson and Justin Long in the ends fall for psycho ginnerfer goodwin. Its not a great romcom with so many dilemas and dramas that just fail to entertain! -

I really enjoyed this. It calls everyone on their bullshit and has more realistic circumstances and reactions than 90% of romantic comedies. I liked than no one was perfect or even close to it, they all had their faults. A lot of good performances and chemistry between characters. -

A few years back, a failed comedian decided to write a lame book masquerading as a breakthrough relationship manual, stating the most obvious facts and cliches, making every woman out to be in oblivious denial, and every man out to be a jerk. For some baffling reason, Oprah gave it her golden seal of approval and all of her zombie followers gobbled it up. <i>Then</i>, Drew Barrymore decided it needed to be a movie, and set out to produce it. Ugh. <br/> <br/>Now, let me say right off the bat I have no problem with romantic comedies. There are plenty that I like. Relationships between men and women are perfect fodder for comedy. But while mosty enjoyable, this film is kinda hit-and-miss, but succeeds due to an impressive cast. <br/> <br/>Yes, like the book, the movie essentially paints every guy as a jerk (to various degrees and in their own different ways), and every woman as in oblivious denial. Sure, there are plenty of funny and cute moments, but the factor that keeps this from being an even better film is the same one that plagues many similar ensemble films like <i>Love Actually</i>: Too many storylines. <br/> <br/>There are stories and characters you care about, and then there are the ones you don't - The ones that just make you spend every minute of their screentime waiting to get back to the ones you DO care about. Barrymore even casts herself in a completely pointless, tacked-on role that really has no purpose in the film. So the film feels spread too thin, especially over an unnecessary 2 hour and 20 minutes running time. <br/> <br/>What does work, and quite well, is the individual performances, most notably Ginnifer Goodwin and Justin Long. It's so great to see them together again after both getting their first big break on <i>Ed</i>. (WHEN will that come out on DVD?!!?) Unusual choices for the leads, to be sure, but they are perfect for their parts. The rest of the actors do fine as well, but they can only carry the film so far before it falls victim to the mediocrity of its source material. In all, it's a fairly amusing flick, but one that thinks it is far more insightful than it really is. <br/> <br/>*I give it bonus points for a scene involving/discussing the most underrated of John Hughes' films, <i>Some Kind of Wonderful</i>. I feel like I was the only person in the crowded theater who had a clue what they were talking about. -

A quite good romantic comedy with a very talented cast - except for Johansson, who is only sexy as usual, and Affleck, who is pretty much inexistent here. -

A chick flick for those who enjoy the recent glitzy TV shows, like "Sex in the City", loaded with big name stars and pretty faces. Somehow I don't think its reinforcement of the male-centred world view would go down well with feminists.
