Good thriller. A widower (Robert De Niro) tries to look after his daughter after the suicide of his wife and her mother. Emily (Dakota Fanning) doesn't make friends but prefers to play hide and seek with her imaginary friend Charlie. Good cast. Dakota plays the weird little girl ...( read more)very convincingly. This psychological thriller bases its success on its two main characters and their actors, and DeNiro and Fanning deliver as always. The first half of the film isn't terribly exciting but interesting enough to make the audience hope for a shocking twist or solution. Sadly, the on...( read more)e presented towards the end is neither very convincing nor surprising, after that the showdown seems to drag on forever, using many stereotypes known to thriller finales. Leaves the audience unsatisfied and with the impression this could have been a lot better with a smarter script.

Well I thought it was fantastic. I happen to love thriller/mystery movies so that made me enjoy it a lot more than some people would.

Okay, so I hate Dakota Fanning. Just thought you should know that. But she actually wasn't that bad. Normally I can't stand her - I think it wa...( read more)s after 'War of the Worlds' where she screamed through the whole movie that I started to dislike her. This movie is in fact the opposite for her. Especially in the first half, she only says a few words.
Robert De Niro was just brilliant as always. I was expecting the best from him and that's what you get.

Okay, so the story is more creepy than scary. There were a few parts when I jumped from something being so sudden, but mostly it was just creepy music that kept the suspense going. the twist actually reminded me a lot of 'Secret Window', you'll get what I mean when you see for yourself. But this one was more unexpected, I really had no idea what was coming.

If you're a Robert De Niro fan, or perhaps you like the idea of Dakota Fanning looking really freaky? Then you should see this. Oh and if you like thrillers then that's even more reason to go and see this!

Dakota's performance is flawless but the movie is just absolutely awful that it's painful. Dakota steals De Niro's thunder so easily that it's even funny. But the girl can certainly act and this movie proves it. Her best performance since "I am Sam" and "Man on fire" but her wors...( read more)t movie. I actually prefer "The Cat in the Hat" than this one!

Started out well enough but ultimately the whole plot fell apart. De Niro and Fanning are rather weak in their roles.
