This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. They totally butchered the story, the plot holes and contingency errors are frequent and noticable. I have read there is a directors cut that fixes it, so I will try and get my hands on that.
this movie truely sucked. I mean, they should have left it as one movie. they went futuristic and made the immortals like space beings, thats just crazy....lol
sean connery is still juan sanchez villalobos ramirez. but the introduction isn't funny anymore. connor mcleod and ramirez go to the planet kitana. ramirez picks up a chick in a plane that is clearly held up by strings. then mcleod and ramirez go fight some nefarious organization doing some evil thing with nukes or something at some giant hydroelectric dam. this is not a joke. this is the plot of the movie. you see where i am going with this.
wow what a movie....i love all these highlander movies....i think this is pretty kewl for a sequel/follow-up movie this is really enjoyable 2 watch the tv show of this was really kewl but i just loved all of these movies n i think they are really enjoyable..
Much better than "The Source" but not at all as good as the original Highlander film. It jumps into a cheesy futuristic world and makes up some stupid mythology about the immortals coming from another planet called "Zeist." However, after this movie, none of the events, characters, or even settings are spoken of in either movie or show versions of the franchise ever again.
Right, how to make sequel about a man who has lived through some of the greatest moments in history from 1536 to 1986 while immortal. I know lets make it about a giant ozone shield. They're should have been only one
Widely accepted as one of the worst sequels of all time, Highlander II takes the story of an ostensibly mystical race of immortals, fighting for the prize of ultimate power, and redefines it as a sci-fi tale, where the immortals are in fact alien beings exiled to earth, with the prize being the ability to return home, or grow old and die on earth. When Connor McLoud, now an old man, kills another alien who has just been sent to earth, he is made immortal once again; and must use his abilities, along with help from Ramirez (who, apparently, Connor can bring back from the dead just by calling his name, which kind of makes you wonder why he took this long to do so), must battle an oppressive future government to save the world. This movie was so bad that it spawned what I refer to as ?The Highlander Rule?, which says that when a movie sequel reaches a certain level of awful, I simply refuse to acknowledge its existence when speaking of the franchise.
A heroically awful movie that commands the utmost respect for it's ridiculously baroque ineptitude. The highlander series is endlessly fascinating to me.
Note: I watched the extended/re-edited "Renegade Version" which, I understand, adds in some of my favorite "WTF?" moments.
This movie just did not go along with any other movie in this saga, it is an excellent movie and as a stand alone it is great. But the whole alien thin just doesn't fit with the rest of the movies!
This was an unfortunate and far flung deviation from the intent and storyline of the original, most fans of the Series tend to prefer to view this title as "non-existant"....I tend to agree.
I prefer the 'renegade version' of Highlander 2, I highly suggest if you like the series, to find the 'renegade version'. It was re-edited the way the film makers originally intended. The one released to the theatres was cut and chopped all to hell, the 'renegade version' shows more of the story, and the action isn't cut at all.
I was so so so dissapointed in this after the brilliant original. This time everything that you were told in the first movie was completely thrown out the window. Not even sean connery could save this piece of crap.
Although I love Highlander, this has some mistakes in it. I did not like the first sequel since it had nothing to do with the first movie. The uncut version was better. Even the uncut version does not explain the age of the Highlander or where he came from. This movie is my only favorite movie that I do not have five stars rated on it.
Simply atrocious! I watched the 'Renegade' edition which supposedly represents the directors true vision, but nothing can rescue this dogs dinner of a movie. The action set pieces are dire, especially the floating boards chase, the acting wooden and the story makes no sense. Sean Connery's appearance is more like a cameo and he's gone before you know it - a wise move on his part. Truly, utterly, depressingly terrible.
